I need a new birth certificate, I was born out of province, I printed paperwork from gov ab website, it states if I’m applying by mail I need a notary to sign it to confirm my identity, I called an insurance agent and they told me a Lawer is my only option, is this true, I’ve heard otherwise, has anyone hone through this process?

I had the same thing for my daughter who was born in Alberta. The Alberta form says you can use a commissioner for oaths, but NO MANITOBA COMMISSIONER FOR OATHS will sign a form for another province, so that's why you're kinda screwed on that one. I think the lawyer I found charged me maybe $60, call around, I can't remember who I got.
