Provincial Exhibition big loss of money
1/30/2018 at 8:36 PM
I saw today in the Brandon Sun the article on the Provincial Exhibition (Winter Fair, Summer Fair, and Manitoba Ag Ex)
The article says that they have a loss of $127,343 of money this last year alone. But they didn't mention that in 2016 their was a loss of $34,106 and in 2015 their was a loss of $49,242. That’s a TOTAL loss of OVER $200,000 in 3 years.
Meanwhile in 2014 they made a profit of $173,518 and a profit of $216,303 in 2013.
The last 3 years alone they have done nothing but go into the hole with nothing to show for it.
This place has been around for a long time and I sure as heck would love to see it around for another 100+ years. But with the way they are running it into the ground I don't see that happening.
People get to vote every year on who will get in on the board. And every year maybe 1 new person gets on and other wise its the same old group.
The board is full of business members with successful business, people that make and do budgets for their jobs and yet no one there can see that they are digging a bigger and bigger hole? Do known of them care and are just there for the free drinks in their fancy suits.
I think the Fairs are great for the city and the business' around get better income during the weeks when the hotels are full and the restaurants and the stores are busier. It's a great thing to have in the city with all the things for the kids to see and do during the Winter Fair and the Ag Ex show. The Summer fair brings in different crowds and is a bunch of fun for those people that like rides and games.
The Board Members need to wake up and start asking questions. Before there is no fairs left.
