Hitting your brakes sends all that energy to all the joints in your suspension and steering components causing damage that would not have happened if you just hit the hole at speed. Hitting a puddle after breaking almost guarantees warped rotors. Take your car to a mechanic you trust and have them check it out. And next time don't brake just before. " |

The second worst thing you can do is criticize someone that is just asking for some advice.
Axes up:Take pictures of the road where the damage occurred and even take video of other vehicles going through this trench. Also take pictures of the lack of barricades and show that there are no signs saying to slow down. Then make an MPIC claim. You will have to show that you travel that road and the damage to the suspension is consistent with hitting a dug out trench. MPI may not accept your claim but they have covered vehicles hitting pot holes in certain circumstances. If you have a good case, with pictures, you may be able to claim the damage.
