Anyone know what is happening at 18th Street and Queens Tuesday morning. Lots of police presence, 18th street blocked northbound and southbound.

Hit and run

but I think that they got the driver.

The truck that hit the pedestrian is still on scene sitting in the middle of the intersection, so if it’s a hit and run the driver took off on foot.

Pasting the original Police info below. Looks like it's open to traffic after being closed for quite a while (guessing a couple hours?)... not just at the intersection but a good portion of a block. The response would leave someone concerned to hear about the pedestrian, I hope they weren't seriously hurt.  

BPS members are investigating a collision involving a vehicle & pedestrian at the intersection of 18th Street & Queens Avenue. The North Bound lanes of traffic are blocked and closed. Please avoid the area. An update will be provided when traffic can resume. #bdnmb

Must have been bad. I drove by around 20 after 10 this morning and they had 1 south bound lane open at Queens & 18th so you could get to richmond but all northbound was closed.  
 
They must have closed everything after that because a previous twitter post says everything was closed in all directions and to avoid the area

The lady was taken to Wpg...hope she is OK..

That's a very weird statement from the officer: "He said both the pedestrian and vehicle followed proper traffic procedures at the time of the collision."  
 
That really can't be right - procedures are not designed to cause accidents: there had to be a driver or pedestrian error involved, or both the truck and the pedestrian wouldn't have been in the intersection at the same time.

I thought the same when I read it but we do not know how it happened.  
Would be good if later the accident is explained so the next time any pedestrians or any motor vehicles learn better to avoid a same mistake.

The reporter said the officer said. There were no quotations in the article.

both the pedestrian and the driver went when the light was green. However the driver didn't exert care and caution and hit the lady. I hope that the lady is alright, this will affect her for the rest of her life.

that it was the front left corner post of the silverado that obscured the drivers view of the pedestrian. some of the pillars are so big you can lose a pedestrian in them pretty easy.  
really gotta watch.
