I read an interesting thing on BALA. By law had brought in 10 cats over the weekend and if people didn't start picking up their cats they would start to be euthanized. While I know the bylaw people have jobs to do, and respond mostly to complaints, I have to wonder if cats are really such a big issue. Yes they mess up gardens and kill birds but the death sentence for that is a little extreme. Now the only reason I bring this up is that I was at a construction site in the city. Kids were playing in the dirt piles beside 10 foot high straight walled banks. A single fence was in place to keep people from falling over the bank but nothing to keep kids out. So I guess getting rid of cats is a noble cause but I wonder if Bylaw enforcement could maybe look at something that could kill children in between picking up cats. These sites are kid magnets and whomever put up the barriers were not in any compliance with Provincial law. And yes I called Bylaw enforcement and shooed the kids away.

parents can't be more responsible and know where their kids are and what they are doing.  
 
Same goes for people who own cats. And no I am not saying that cats are more precious than children.

Last it was a post about drugs and people shared their opinions it didn't deleted so I can't figure that out "

Site has their own rules and free speech or having an opinion that rubs the “administrator” the wrong way seems to always get deleted.

Can you explain for me the connection between the Animal Control Officers, who take cats to the pound to address complaints caused by  
irresponsible owners, and Workplace Safety & Health inspectors who are responsible for work site safety. I'm not following the logic here.  
 
The ACO's work for the city under the police service and the WSH inspectors are provincial employees. Animal control within the city is a municipal issue while construction safety is provincially regulated.  
 
So again, what is the connection, or am I missing something? Thanks!

Just like to point out that cats have a huge negative impact on the environment. Not only do they trash gardens and kill a few birds, they are causing damage to the eyecosystem. They do this by killing off animals that are needed. Most of the time the animals they kill go to waste.  
So to answer that, yes they do a lot more damage then you think.  
 
As for construction sites I'd think it'd not only be up to the parents/caregivers to be watching the kids better but the construction company could also do things to remedy the situation.

Yes you make a good point that this does fall into the realm of WHS. However there is also bylaws about securing sites. Why would you argue about a technicality when children's lives are at stake. Seems an odd way to feel confused.

Well that is an interesting argument. Basically cats are an environmental menace that must be stopped at all costs yet children who play in an unsecured site are fair game when they play outside unsupervised. Cool nice priorities.
