@TrevorB is correct. I was tuned into 91.5 and the whole time they had a reporter on scene giving updates. Kudos to the team at 91.5 for keeping us updated.

Its times like this and during the floods when we realize just how important our local media is. Think you might've been tuning in at wrong place/time. When I had Q Country on right in the middle of it all they had their news director Skyler S doing a lengthy live report right from downtown... Skyler's someone we're pretty fortunate to have in Brandon with her news background.

Was listening to 94.7 and was getting all the updates! In fact, I heard about the vendor fire on 94.7 shortly after I seen the black smoke

I was surprised at the lack of info coming from Brandon Sun. They are supposed to be our main local news source and I feel like they failed. They made regular updates in news and none of them were fire related. I checked into the radio a few times but must’ve missed the updates there as I only heard music too. Yesterday, I felt like the people of Brandon were more reputable with their observations and timely in their reporting than any of our news sources in Brandon. But it’s good to know the radio stations were keeping people updated too.

You would think that if CKLQ had a reporter at the scene that they could replay the report when people turn the radio on say at three o'clock when the news came on. That's when I would try to listen and catch the latest news.

but I never heard what started the fire? I did not listen the news closely after each updates but first news I would here sounded Christie''s was first on fire.

Christie's was the first to catch on fire. The heat and flying embers spread to the other buildings to cause fires at those locations.

I know the fire spread over but what was the cause of the fire to start in the first place?

Needs to be investigated. Will probably be awhile before they know.

guess would be an electrical short in the upper floors. Animal chew through a wire? The exact source will likely never be known since the entire 4 story building is a pile of ash and twisted metal.

I found Facebook to be the best for updates..there was some reputable reporting done and first hand videos.I would check here every now and then but there was not much updating and plus I didn't want to depend on speculation.

The Brandon Sun was worried their building was going to go up in flames. they might have been busy trying to save their business rather than doing updates. I for one can forgive them. CKLQ was doing a good job...Brandon Sun probably had a lot of other things going on than posting updates for the public. I know they issued a statement when their building was deemed safe.

The Brandon Sun, in the direct line of danger, is the last place I'd have expected to be posting updates. They had other concerns ... like survival.

Not sure what you expect to hear every minute? All updates were given on radio , facebook and twitter. The people that needed to be evacuated were so on time and safely .  
People just need to know everything right away these days .
