Need Cheap Rent

If you could find a smaller size commercial space with cheap rent you probably could make a fishing store work. It isn't about the accessories. It is about the main components. Sure you have Walmart, JoBrook, Home Hardware, Canadian Tire, etc. and they all have a basic selection of hooks, leaders, line, this and that. You have cheap to middle use at places like Canadian Tire. Jo Brook you have the higher end stuff like Fenwick, Gloomis, St. Croix, etc. for rods. A place like the Fishin' Hole might to alright if you can find a nice budget friendly storefront. You need to be able to have sales like CT where a decent $100 rod and reel combo goes for half price every so often. You need a little variety of everything. I shopped around for a GPS sonar for my boat. Only place was out of town for what I wanted. I asked local why they only stocked what they had and that is what they were recommended to stock by the rep. You need knowledgeable people that can tell me the differences between electronics and it should be the sales staff telling the boss what to order based on local demand, not some rep pushing certain models. Since I am the fishing guide when family all gets together cheaper rod packages from CT come in handy with the little kids step on rods by accident. As they grow I have upgraded and hence why spending a couple hundred now on quality gear goes a long way. My new Fenwick I can put the tip to my throat and talk, the vibrations can be felt in the handle of the rod. My cheaper rods don't have that sensitivity. Fishing on the Red I have actually felt the walleye inhale my jig. Ice fishing I want to see flashers from all makers and a few varieties of each, not just one kind.
