Interesting, edmonton testing out noise equipment in a trial for possible use to issue tickets for vehicles too loud much like photo radar currently widely used already.  
 
I for one would welcome this, so many loud modified exhaust systems on cars/trucks and bikes.

That's kind of shitty though what happens to the guy driving the Harley just as loud as a modified exhaust you cant hate one type of loud vehicles and not another.

Well yes and no, while the system is loud right from factory it''''s when they go and modify them to become even louder where the real issue begins. I always hear the loud pipes save lives comment, ya I guess if I have my window down sure. If I am driving on the highway with windows up and music playing I''''m still not going to hear you until you are already beside me passing tho.  
 
Before people jump all over this I have no issue with bikes(wish I had the confidence to drive one and not fear dumping it) even loud exhaust on most vehicles. It's the drivers who need to absolutely pin it from every stop sign every stop light every gear change that make the majority of the noise imo.

I do agree with original topic that some exhaust systems are way too loud

In Manitoba , the police do not need a noise detector to issue an order to have a safety done. If a vehicle has loud exhaust, bcp may not be able to issue a ticket because it is discretionary but they can issue a notice to have a safety. If exhaust been modified it fails the safety. But.... A big but is that the noise testing equipment allows Edmonton to issue a ticket on the spot. What they are doing is switching exhaust back to factory for safety, so it passes. But now they got them on the spot.

Next it will be the clean air freaks. California tried that. They could read a car/truck that spouted high tailpipe emissions when it went by at 60Mph. Cool but where did that go from there? Just because there is info does not mean it gets followed up on. At best these guys get a ticket. A forced safety means the old pipes go on,safety passed then back to the modified. Leave the tax paper financed tech out. Save a buck and trust the police. A un necessary noise ticket once a week will eventually stop the noise makers.

I dont think it should matter if its custom or not still makes noise either way.ao if the cars came custom like that it would be fine? Ain't the point the noise lol. Also I do agree it can be loud however it should comply with the time your allowed to make noise to and not. I believe here its 11 to 6 or 7 so those cameras should only be turned on during those times. Thay i 100% agree with other than that leave them alone there's a lot worse things going on out there then that.
