Hi, ebrandoners, I am currently unable to work full time/partime due to family issue beyond my control. Which is causing financial strain. I am looking for a job i can do two hours a day like office after hours cleaning... Do you know of any jobs like that? Do you have any suggestions? Where can i check,? I have tried the classifieds on ebrandon already

Put your own ad on ebrandon about willing to clean. You may pick up a couple of clients that add up to the hours you need.  
 
Plus put together a simple resume and go around and apply to all cleaning businesses they are always looking for part time cleaners.  
 
Be open to something else as well. Part time people are sometimes hard to find especially if the hours are short.  
 
I know this would not fit your need but awhile back a business wanted someone for 2 hours to cover their receptionist at lunch time. So be open to other opportunities.

Brandon school division is looking for couriers. Lunch supervisors at the schools are also a good one.  
Thd hospital had one for dietary aide at 0.2 for time (2hrs/day).  
Don''t limit yourself to only cleaning if there are other possible options. Just go to ebrandon classifieds under jobs and look up part-time or even casual.

2 hours might be a little on the short side for most people I think they want at least 3 to 4 hours. Also dont quote me but when i worked in restraunts they has to pay you legally for a minimum 3 hours if you worked that long or not, this was many years ago I am in the trades now and they have different rules a bit. However if you can shovel walk ways, rake leaves, cut grass then that may be the way to go or cleaning houses on your own as previously mentioned. Or what about split shifts? 2 or 3 hours for lunch time 2 or 3 for supper if that works I dont know but lots of restraunts do that. Hope this helps though good luck

Doesn’t apply if you got s job you know is less than that. If they advertise 2 hours you apply and get it. You can’t demand to be paid 3 hours.  
 
3 hours applies to a job you work at then they want to send you home as it isn’t busy. This way they have to pay you for 3 hours. Or you are on call and come in you can’t be paid less than 3 hours even if it only took an hour.  
 
I think she was looking for something that was just a couple of hours.

Check with the elementary schools. They are often in need of lunch supervisors.

Don’t overlook the option of saving money instead of earning extra. Sometimes tightening your belt makes a big difference and you won’t need an extra job. Worked for me!

Sometimes the belt can be tightened so much before you strangle yourself.  
 
I know people don’t like doing this (I am one) but perhaps check with government programs that may provide a bit of help for you. It’s not a sign of weakness it is a sign of being smart and strong till your situation changed

Have you recently worked enough hours to qualify for EI? If you’ve had to move to follow your spouse, or had to quit work due to look after your children, parents etc due to medical issues you may be able to qualify. Worth a try.

there is a topic on ebrandon started by individuals looking for some type of employment. When I was in grade 12 (50 plus years ago) one of the compulsory subjects required to graduate was creative thinking. One of the things we learned was how to create our own employment on a shoe string budget, the course was taught by Peat Marwick (which is now KPMG). When I look at Brandon I see a hot bed of opportunities for creating ones own employment in order to make money. For example : Brandon has several nursing homes, a lot of residents within these homes do not have family that live close enough to visit on a regular basis - a lot of families would gladly pay someone to come in and take their loved one out for a walk, coffee or even to church - someone that will get them out of the home for a few hours each week. Your hospital takes in patients from all over SW Man. and SE Sask. - since there are a lot of patients from outside the area they would be very happy to pay someone to run errands for them to get things not available at the gift shop. Lawyers need couriers to run documents to the Court House and other Law Firms. Do you own your own home with a secure back yard - there are a lot of pet owners that that would pay a premium for a private family to care for their dog then board same at a commercial kennel. I believe you can keep up to 3 dogs in Brandon. Its time to start thinking with the creative side of your brain.
