Does anyone know how long the process takes?  
Obviously I plan to call tomorrow but I'm curious if anyone has the answer tonight. I've never been on anything like that and in a really bad situation so I'm just stressing and looking for answers!  
Any help would be appreciated. Please don't comment if all you have to say is talk to them, I'm aware of that already.

They will give you a time to attend an orientation session. You should be able to attend one next week. After you attend the session you can book an intake appointment. Depending on how busy they are my guess would be you will have to wait at least 2 weeks for an appointment.

At least 2 weeks for an appointment. I'm sure if you tell them your situation they might be able to help you with some things, like maybe a small food voucher, and there are also a few different places in town for food hampers such as Samaritian House (phone to make an appointment), Salvation Army (phone to make an appointment), St. Augustiens Church (every Wednesday I believe, bring photo id) and I THINK Youth For Christ has a small hamper program also. As for help with other things before you get on assistance, try the 7th Street Access Center also, they have a bunch of things they can help with! I hope this helps you and things start looking up!! when on pda you can make $200.00 extra now my question is at which places can you work to make the extra money is there a list of places you can work at ?

You can work anywhere, I would think. You can make more than $200, but can only keep a portion of the amount earned over that amount. Full info here:

the work I use to do I can not do anymore I have a visual impairment & dumb to boot no skills that any business would pay me to work at so that is why I need a list of volunteer places that pay the $200.00 who else is going to hire me ?forgot to add old

If you are looking for a list of places to volunteer, your EIA caseworker might be able to help. Alternatively, there have been a few eBrandon discussions about places looking for volunteers.

If you are a woman, the Women’s Resource centre may help. They can give you a list of all the food banks and their hours.  
As for EIA, it is a mandatory intake appointment, be prepared to spend half your day there. Then another two weeks for an appointment, but if you’re like me and have atypical circumstances, it may take up to a month or more until you get some money. Even then, it’s not much.
