Again seems it's the only way lazy people will put them in a cart corral or back at a store start charging for use again and make it a twoonie no ones gonna leave that behind for sure they wont care on 25 cents or maybe a loonie but 2 bucks they will want it back  
 
Anyway this will clean up parking lots and sidewalks all over the city  
 
I myself found a superstore cart at Walmart today and found a shoppers drug mart one at trails west way out a hand

A slow day.

This really isn’t something I’d go home and worry about. I’ll sometimes grab a stray cart and take it into the store to use. Sometimes I take carts to a corral and sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I give it to someone who can’t find a loonie. But I never worry about it. And I sure don’t care if a Walmart cart is at superstore.

I also think they should have carts that require coins. It's ridiculous how many are left all over the parking lot at Walmart. Then you go in the store and there are no carts available!  
I'm starting to believe Walmart does not care one iota about the consumers. Self-checkouts, Dairyland milk no longer available, taking all kinds of product they used to carry away off their shelf, etc...  
I know it won't matter at all to them, but I am going there less and less all the time, and taking my business elsewhere.  
 
I wish Superstore had the small carts like Walmart does... just one thing I am thankful for Walmart for.

Yeah, some people are lazy however having to use a toonie to use a shopping cart isn't the solution. For a while this year at my apartment, we had a shopping cart from Superstore which is a short 7 minute walk fro my apartment.

I couldn't care less where people leave their cars. If one is blocks away from home it affects me...not at all. If one parking spot has a cart in it there are 10 or 20 others that are empty. If shopping carts are your biggest complaint in life you are doing okay!!

If Walmart had  
a cart corral on the North side of the lot, I’d put my cart away. Thanks.

In conversations like this before it seemed more top heavy in responses of parents who try to justify leaving a cart as they cannot leave their children for 30 seconds to put away a cart. Yet go to superstore where there a lot of family shoppers by paying for a cart it always seems to find a way to the parking corrals to get the loonie back. Strange how that works. If I see a lot of carts in the lot I will grab one for myself as that usually means there is none in the store.

Don’t you think the reason that spot might still be empty in that busy lot is because there is a shopping cart in the way??  
You should thank the person who left it there as now you have a spot to park.

Stuff to worry about than shopping carts most of the time But the one thing that ticks me off just a bit, Is I take the trouble to push the cart half way or further across the parking lot to the cart coral .  
 
I get there and the other 10 that did the same thing after it was just emptied dumped their cart and filled the whole thing untidily, instead of pushing them all together properly so you can get the other 100 or what ever they hold in there .  
 
More than a few times I've fixed their messes so I could park my cart properly. If people are going to walk that far then dump the thing like that why bother. Just leave it where you finished with it like the others do if you don't have the extra 10 seconds to park it properly.

The other day I ditched my cart behind my car. Lady in the next parking spot was happy to see it there as it meant she didn't have to walk over and get one to put her baby carrier in. Was nice to see someone HAPPY.

I usually grab one in the parking lot before I go in. That way when I leave it near my car I haven’t increased the number of carts in the parking lot.

If once in a while if you took the trouble to walk a long distance taking the cart back and found 10 carts just inside the coral entrance with 20 ft of empty space behind them not used. Then you actually had to move them to get your cart in you''d think different to.  
 
Thats the whole problem these days hardly anybody has time or respect for others property. The next generations that weren''t raised with respect and discipline are having kids now to continuing the downward spiral..  
 
I was born in the 70''s and think we were the last generation before things started going down hill fast, with what people are like now.

don't be quite so proud - 50 other people ditched their carts too, so the lady could have found one anywhere close by.  
 
that is the problem, people just ditch their carts, people have to get out to move them to get into a spot, when the wind is strong they roll into people's vehicles and damage them.  
 
Have you ever drove around a few times to find a spot only to find one, but their is a cart in the middle of it and you have to get out to move it, before you can park.  
 
Just an annoyance and lazy.  
 
Although, Manitoba is windy and concern with a cart running into my car is my issue. I am not so lazy to take it back or have to get out and move one...but really?  
 
It is actually like respect for other's property, to put it back where it belongs.

charging for carts will bring more problems, I lived in Thompson and they charged a loonie to unlock a cart. Which is fine in itself. But soon enough the "unsavory" characters started showing up and asked to return the carts for you. They would follow you to your car watch you unload your bags into your car,which would creep most people out esp young ladies and older people. A few actually would wait for you to turn your back while you put your last bag in cart and take your cart away. Thing is they started getting aggressive to the point the mall had to hired parking lot security to get rid of these people.

Think of it this way. The cart saved the parking spot for you so, be thankful and while you're at it, take the cart into the store. That way, if there are no carts in the store when you go in, you will already be one step ahead.

They need more cart return spots in Walmart.

I love the classic "people these days" narrative. Guess who raised these darn hooligans and rascals? Oh that's right, your generation. I guess we learned our behaviour of leaving carts behind from someone right? Get over it. I'll take the little bit of laziness and rush to get around of 2018 over the open racism and what-not of the 60s and 70s.

Don’t seem to care....when the new sobeys opened up at the mall they had the little kids cart and now I don’t see them around anymore. I had taken a picture of one of those little carts in my neighbors back yard for his kids to play with. I took that picture along with the address to Sobeys and complained....well Sobeys didn’t do a darn thing about it & it is still in that backyard. To me that is stolen property & people should be charged accordingly. Those little carts put a smile on every kids face bc they were helping mom or dad with groceries but Sobeys didn’t nothing about it & yet they are worried when you walk out of the new entrance & exit going into the mall with your cart....in fact an employee chased us to let us know we couldn’t leave with our cart full of groceries at that exit...huh priorities but stealing carts no big deal.

A lot of people are complaining about loss of jobs due to the self checkouts, but you do realize, that by charging for carts you are taking a way a persons job?  
 
Look at Superstore versus Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart I almost always see 2-3 cart attendants every time I'm there. They don't exist at Superstore...  
 
So yeah, maybe carts everywhere sucks for you but it's a job opportunity for someone else.

Sometimes I do take my cart back to the stand. If I find a mess of carts there I just shove mine up to them and call it good. If you want to complain about straightening up that mess as you do it, good for you. I am older than you and am not wrestling with a bunch of carts-it isn't a generational thing more of an arthritis thing to be honest.

do you, we weren't all raised like this in the 70's yes some were ,but me personally if I'd of done half what the later generations get away with my parents and many others would of been in prison for child abuse correcting us, and we'd be raised in foster care.  
Have you ever had a 5 year old in the 2000's tell you to F off, and the 80's mother wouldn't do anything, you should try it and see what you think, I'd of had the brown beat out of me for that before the grounding and loss of privileges for a month.  
 
why do you have to bring race into a discussion about lazy people and shopping carts.  
Thats the modern way of dealing with any issue where people don't like others opinions on certain things. Nobody wants to speak out about anything anymore because somebody might start pulling that card or be offended.  
 
I don't care if you say you are red and associate as an English mail box. Take the shopping cart back, if you are able bodied enough to push it from the store full to your vehicle. Then store it properly so everybody else can do the same without dealing with somebody elses laziness .  
 
Maybe the store needs to loose another 4 parking spots and put more corals up in the ideal world it would help, but I'd seriously doubt it with attitudes defending making a mess in a parking lot or cart coral.  
 
I'm done discussing this some people have rights apparently even if half of them might actually be plain decency to others wrong in the modern society.

sure walmart has someone collecting carts and pays them but not everywhere does example shoppers mall and the 2 guys that did do it there were doing it for the change they found in the carts  
it just courtesy put them away who wants car damage when a cart smacks into it  
 
and yes i agree walmart needs a couple more cart drops in the north for sure but wont happen
