Wondering if anyone does anything to alert other drivers when they see deer on the roads, mainly highways. I was taught to tap my brakes several times for drivers behind me and I tend to do it for oncoming traffic as they pass me or I will put my hazards on for a few flashes and then off. Am I the only one who does this? I also do it if there’s an obstruction on the road ie: debris, roadkill etc....

I will flash my high beams a couple times quickly for animals on the road.

Yes I was also taught to tap my brakes to alert other drivers of anything.  
 
I was also taught to flash my brights once a semi had passed to alert them that they had room to move back over.  
 
Last year there was a vehicle on the highway who had NO lights on at all. I tried to alert them many times from both behind and in front of them. They were totally clueless as to what I was doing and probably thought I was some lunatic lol

In reply to the person who says they were taught to flash their headlights to let semi's know it’s safe to pull back in. Seems like a good idea, doesn’t it? Many drivers do this, however, the down side is that semi drivers may do just that as soon as they see the "flash" and now you have the backend of a semi directly in front of you. Just how far in front of you is the burning question! The majority of people doing this are inviting trouble by having the semi pull in too close ahead. If the semi has to "slam on the brakes" are the drivers of the courteous vehicles behind going to be able to stop? If not, then they will be judged "at fault", assuming the semi behind then has been able to stop and they’re alive to be so judged! Best defensive practise is not to flash the semi driver back in, they tend to leave a longer "gap" before signalling. If you really wanna help the semi driver, slow down to let him pass more quickly and leave a longer gap before he pulls back in.

Yes! I too flash my brights at people who have no tail lights on and nobody has ever paid any mind… I probably come off looking like a serial killer from an urban legend, but I’m only trying to warn them that they might cause an accident. I honked once, but got a lovely finger in response. What to do?

Gandalf...I see your point. I can’t speak for others but I don’t flash until it’s safe to do so. 95% of the time, the driver taps his brakes to say thanks in return  
 
Cadbury...I don’t know what else to do either?? Lol. This person didn’t even have their front lights on. I have to assume the vehicle was broken and they weren’t THAT dumb to be driving with zero lights lol
