Check Max Bernier out first on Twitter, listen to previous speeches there and then come out and talk with a politician, the likes of whom you have never seen.

If he's against capital gains taxation, then he certainly isn't getting my vote! But, seriously though, good baiting with the title, because it has ZERO to do with the content. I'd be surprised if this thread survives.

He hasn't campaigned here and it's new party so that sounds logical.  
He's the only party against a $13,000,000,000. equalization gift to his home province, the only one for free enterprise which runs contrary to the milk control board that bought Scheer in and the only one who will run a pipeline thru Quebec whether they like it or not using the Constitution to do it like they did for #1 and RR.  
I believe he will do these things and more and until a person lies to me, I trust them.  
Looking forward to hearing him talk and field questions at Valleyview.

Consider this though before you decide whether Max Bernier may be one too-I did!  
His home riding is in Quebec and he is telling Quebecers to get off their butts and work instead of taking 13 billion from Alta. Sound like a lie?  
He told the Quebec dairy cartel he was not going to continue to allow them to fix prices. That's why he won the first 12 ballots for conservative leadership and lost on the 13th and final ballet to Scheer when the dairy cartel bought enough memberships to nake scheer the leader 52% to 48%. Scheer is FOR high milk, dairy, egg, cheese, poultry prices. Sound like a liar yet?  
I can go on and on as I have watched him from day one and he looks, so far anyway, like the PM I always wished we had.  
PS NO HANDOUTS TO A SINGLE BUSINESS.

I mean we have a finance minister who gave I think it was $37,000,000. to Maple Leaf as a gift and his wife owns it!!!

Since Sept Max has established all 338 ridings and 3 candidates are in a Feb 25 bi election.  
Other than them 3, the other 335 aren't decided till Oct 21st and things will look different in all likelihood by then.  
Heck I don't know if he has even chosen a Brandon Souris candidate yet.  
I'm thinking of some other things that can and likely will happen but I'm sure not saying yet :-)

The McCain family from Ontario owns Mapleleaf foods. Money to go towards drug free meat production(which consumers are asking for) and to upgrade cut plants for food quality, is good in my books. Let's help prevent another listeriosis outbreak.  
Now who's telling lies on a public forum??

1. We know about his feelings on ag marketing boards - what else does he have?  
2. I'm not impressed with the calibre of some of his supporters (ie. "yellow vest protest"). Is that the truth beneath his political veneer?  
3. I'm also not impressed that his supporters don't remember the impact the Reform party had on the Liberal party (ie. best Christmas present ever). Splitting the right is not going to prevent a Liberal majority, no matter what you hope.  
4. If no one supporting Bernier realizes the truth of #3 above, another reason not to vote for him.

That splitting the vote between too many parties is not necessarily good. However, with the current bunch, there isn't much to vote for either. We do need political change in this country. If only the parties would work for the betterment of the country (or provinces) and not just for themselves. Pallister (like him or not) is at least partially doing this by trying to get the provinces finances back in order from the mess that was left to him.

I'll leave you to try to figure out what a cartel is.  
As for Maple Leaf it's you who needs to google ownership and the biggest are McCains.  
Finance Minister Bill Morneau is Nancy McCain and although it is difficult for anybody to figure what share she owns I do know her husband got paid over a million as he left to be finance minister and I do know they got over 30 million from us.  
Why are you talking about what they do with their plants and food quality?

Max Bernier will subsidize no company or pander to any group.

Bernier has 0% chance of becoming PM if he is sharing the vote on the right. Check out the fact that, during the time of the Reform, and later Canadian Alliance, the Liberals consistently had majority governments. Splitting the vote on the right will ensure Trudeau again. You sure Bernier isn't working for Trudeau?

Finance minister Bill Morneau gave 30 million to himself through his wife and her cousin and her sister.

When was Bill Morneau CEO of Maple Leaf Foods? Wallace McCain bought the company with the settlement he got when he left McCain Foods for his son Michael to run. Michael started as president and COO in 1995, under his father.  
 
Again, trying to paper over the fact that Bernier, who didn't come in first to run the Conservatives, went off and started his own party "to show them". No chance of winning, especially right of the Conservatives, but he is going to guarantee Trudeau another majority. Is that what all the Bernier supporters are wanting? I think not. Math is your friend.

Can somebody explain why zero capital gains would be a good thing? If I invest my money in something, and it multiplies, then isn't it reasonable that my increase in wealth is taxed? I mean, after all, the government needs revenue whether we like it or not. No matter how big or small the government is, no matter how much or little they do, they need some revenue. Better they tax away the wealth people earn by doing nothing, and reduce the amount they take in income tax that is generated by our hard work. If I had to choose, I say increase capital gains tax and reduce income tax.

Oh yeah, and before anyone says "don't be stupid, the government won't lower income tax" - of course, I know that. I'm just trying to take a principled view on this and understand the concept. Maybe look at it this way. If capital gains tax was eliminated, where would the revenue be made up? Naturally, one view is to just eliminate all kinds of spending. But since we know that never happens....

I'm not saying that Mr. Berniere is a racist, but the fact that he's so popular with them should give people pause, I think.

A couple weeks ago I watched him n TV asking a Chinese lady to please stop calling her people Chinese-Canadians.  
He does not like hyphenated names.  
He wants everybody to simply be Canadians.  
He's not suggesting in any way that people forget where they came from.  
We don't hear Irish Canadian or Welsh Canadian so why Indo-Canadian or whatever.  
I like plain CANADIAN too. (Don't get me going on French- Canadians :-))

I follow this new party closely and thought I should tell people this virtually unknown was coming here to talk WITH us and discuss things.  
Buy the looks of the comments from 'friendly Manitoba', I did wrong by suggesting a gov't that wouldn't drag us down the same socialist, leftist path Venezuela took and Canada is taking with LibCons.

discuss Bernier's plans for when he gets elected, but rather Trudeau's plans when Bernier splits the right and gives the Liberals another majority. All Bernier can do is ruin Scheer's chance to beat Trudeau, which possibly is the point here.

By honest man, you mean someone who tells the media that he voted 'no' in Quebec's referendum, and then admits he voted 'yes'? Or leaves sensitive documents at his girlfriend's place for five weeks before doing anything about it (whether he left them or she secretly took them doesn't matter)? Or created artificial support for his leadership campaign by fraudulently purchasing several thousand party memberships? OK, that last one wasn't actually proven - it was only alleged by Kevin O'Leary. The investigation that proved nearly 2,800 memberships had been improperly entered, wasn't able to determine who was responsible since they were purchased anonymously. And I suppose being fired from several jobs because you disagree with your boss is OK because it means you stand for something. Just not cooperating and collaborating - but I guess that's OK, since he's running on the 'no compromises' approach.  
 
Well, I think I'll give him a pass. He sounds too much like every other politician. With the usual staunch supporters who try to dismiss everything negative as attacks because their guy is really better than anyone else who's ever run before.
