That was creepy. Kept expecting the emergency alert siren to go off. Glad it’s over so we can go back to sleep

Ok maybe 12 years ago.

There is still a steady low roar coming from the same, almost sounds like a jet or traffic but it’s definitely not. When I open my front door it sounds almost like there’s a car running in my driveway but it’s louder and farther away. I’m bothered and want to know what is going on.

Well that was hard to fall asleep after. Going to be a long day for me.

Via the Sun link below, the plant tripped offline... venting “mostly” steam. At the time of the story earlier today they were still shutdown with plans to start back up soon, I’m not sure if that’s come to pass?  
 
911, City and Fire were notified. Tough time of the day and week to get info out but IMO it would be helpful if there were some form of direct pipeline to the public when this sort of thing happens as the public obviously has an interest as evidenced by 36 posts in less than an hour on here in the middle of the night. Maybe that’s an email to media, maybe it’s even a quick Tweet?

Every time Simplot and now Koch went/go into shutdown, they vent like that. I grew up in the east end and have lived in south central for over 30yrs. Recognized it right away. I'm not sure that it was at night though.

I agree Adam. There should be someway to inform the public that it isn’t an emergency and there is no reason to worry... even if it was “mostly” steam that was released. Smh. I wonder what else was released.
