I read in the Brandon sun that organizers of food truck warz, Jody Sass and Darryl Wolski, are asking council to waive business license fees for food trucks. The fee is only $215/ year. According to numbers put out by food truck warz, attendance was 10,000 the first year and 30,000 the second year. Why should city of Brandon taxpayers be responsible for absorbing this cost? Any other business that does work in Brandon has to pay the fee. If they’re are getting attendance numbers of 30,000+, food truck owners can definitely afford the small fee. I hope that council does not approve their request to waive the business license fees.
This is to be on the Monday council agenda, where administration is recommending that the request to waive licensing fees for all food trucks be denied. The document at the link below is attached to that agenda and contains a thorough explanation... I'd recommend anyone following this topic read it to get a better understanding of the request and response that speaks to the recommendation: https://paperlesscouncil.brandon.ca/attachments/...........
