I previous posts on moving to BC.
So... thinking of moving to BC? Here are some things you need to know.
Medical transfer: once you have a place of residence you need to apply for MSP that is the BC version of Manitoba health, also you need to fill out form with Manitoba health that is Permanently leaving Manitoba , this cancels you Manitoba health, gives temporary Health coverage till you msp kicks in after that is done you will get a letter from Manitoba health
giving you 3 months coverage after that you on MSP. After you get a letter from MSP, you will need to go to BC service get your picture taken for your health card. You have to pay to get health care it's like $30 dollars for me per month, but they are phasing this out it will be like Manitoba done through taxation
BC License and insurance
You have 90 days to change your license over to BC, you will need to prove your driving experience by requesting from mpi claims experience letter for your driving record to be transferred to you BC license.
You have 30 days to change your insurance for your car or truck when you live in BC, you need to get a BC vehicle inspection, to insure your car or truck in the province of bc( Saskatchewan and Alberta are omitted from the inspection due to agreement of the three provinces) Once you have passed inspection you can insure your vehicle.
I live in Northern BC, the rent is comparable to Brandon,MB, but gas is much more between $1.23 to $1.30 a liter of gasoline regular. I do live in smaller town.
