BabaLin said "Did say something about infrastructure, but briefly. I totally agree with you on everything else. What worries me is the health care - or lack thereof. To me as someone older, that is very important. Waiting lines in ER's way too long, shortage of nurses (and doctors). Even trying to get an initial appointment for a specialist in Winnipeg took 9 months when it was needed asap. Beds shutting down, not enough help for the meth crisis...the list goes on... I'm frustrated with the lack of health care wait times. "
I happen to be a senior citizen as well but think we need to look at this in other ways.
We need to have healthcare but about 50% of the money that is raised through taxes is already used just for healthcare expenses. That means that only the other 50% is available for other costs: roads, education, construction, maintenance, interest on the debt, etc.
If Health care costs keep increasing then either healthcare takes a beating or other programs are hurt.
The opposition is calling for more money to be spent on funding for drug abuse: this is mostly a self inflicted abuse and takes healthcare away from those that really are in need of it.
Thus the dilemma becomes, how do we fund the added costs? People complain about added taxes. They complain about healthcare fees( not yet even proposed). They complain about the cost of their medication. and the list goes on and on. Does anyone have an easy solution? NOT SO EASY IS IT.
