In the short time that I have been here I have witnessed at least five drivers stopping at green traffic lights. Today it happened again and I pulled into the other lane to clear the lights and got honked at by another driver turning into the intersection. Sorry but I did not observe any reason to stop the flow of traffic through a green light.  
 
Is this a common way to drive in this city and if so, what could possibly be the reason?

Drivers in Brandon are sheep, We'll just follow the other guy. Perfect example is crossing the 18th street bridge, they would rather line up to Victoria, than zipper merge at Rosser. and if you happen to use the other lane like your supposed to you get the bird 9 times out of 10 for merging in front of someone. I really don't get why Brandon drivers are so bad but it has always been that way.

Weird! I’ve been here for 28 years and have only seen people stopped at a green light because of emergency vehicles approaching (and people clearing intersection for them) and funeral processions. Are you sure the car wasn’t part of a procession? Maybe that’s why the honked?

Did you change lanes over the solid line before the intersection? Or move over while crossing the intersection? How about not using your signal light longer than a single flash? Those are the things that pi$$ me off when I'm ready to turn right at a red into an open lane. ...Or did the other guy have the green already as you "clear the lights"? Was the honker turning left, thought he/she could go and you went around the vehicle in front who was also trying to turn left? There's always a reason to someone's hanging on the horn at you. ...Perhaps you've caught someone off guard as you went to "clear the lights"? Your justification may not interpret well for some drivers. Fast lane changes could be defined as aggressive driving through the eyes of others.  
 
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I saw a car stop at a cross walk on princess to let a car cross going north off of 7th or something. Really made me question humanity. Here I thought cross walks were for humans!

I stopped behind the vehicle stopped at the green light and I looked for a cause to be stopped. There was nothing going on so I signaled, changed lanes, and proceeded through a clear green light and then was honked at by a single vehicle turning left.  
 
The driver who stopped did not look to be in distress.

I drive for a living and see it a few times a week . I think it people who not sure where they are going. I give them a friendly honk with the horn.

More than once I have followed a vehicle that has driven right through a stop sign then stopped in the middle of the street or at an intersection when there was absolutely no reason to do so. Multiple times I see cars waiting at an intersection with no traffic- again, no reason to stop- I have to assume they stop and sit there because they see a car 4 blocks down and are waiting for it to get closer so that they can pull out in front of it? There is some very odd driving in this town!

Alive lol people stop in intersections with no sign facing them all the time! Some hang out for a few seconds, some literally minutes lololol ... welcome to Brandon drivers at their best

I think it’s the pedestrian lights. People watch the countdown and assume the light is going to turn when the countdown hits zero. In some cases it does, but in many more it does not. Maybe this was the case here?

Maybe it’s people that have been t-boned by people running yellow lights and are just being cautious.

Sometimes people get so carried by texting they forget to go. See it all the time. Another clue is the person who slows down and speeds up while driving in front of you.

All I ever see is drivers going through red lights! Now that's a concern!

Brandon is backwards when it comes to driving. Stopping at green lights and never stopping for crosswalks.  
There are 3 crosswalks types:  
Corridor: they have those flashing lights  
Marked: white marks across the road  
Unmarked: all the other places people can cross that arent mark.  
 
I can stop and have at least 5 car pass me before relizing im stopped for a pedestrian so the green light thing is very understandable....

Driving down 18th, light was green but a pedestrian at a crosswalk waited and watched people driving including passing other vehicles but nobody stopped except for the one car everyone was passing just before the green light!

Some of the worst drivers I’ve seen have been in this city! Slow, no signal, coming to almost complete stops when turning! It’s aggravating

I see Buick’s stopping at green lights in the early afternoon. Generally it’s people over the age of 85. They have to stop to see the colour of light.

why is that a concern if somebody stops at green, when others blowing a red light. when you think there is no pedestrian wolking over then you pass the stopped car. there is maybe a reason for them to stop (color blind)....... but when it is an age thing think again you will get older to and do something what the other not understand too. to say that brandon has bad drivers is just not right or fair, because everywhere in the worls are bad drivers on the street. in the case I get mad about somebodys driving I think of my mistakes during driving at some point of time.
