Just a reminder for pedestrians to make sure and wear some sort of reflective clothing when walking at dark.  
 
With it getting dark early and with the nicer weather we have had I have noticed so many people out and about walking with dogs and kids all dressed in dark clothing.

Statement from Brandon police today “We would like to remind pedestrians and motorists alike, that even if you have the right of way, you still need to be mindful of what is happening around you.” Please, wear bright clothes and LOOK BOTH WAYS! Stay safe everyone

I could never understand why people try to match the color of their environment. Going to work every morning there are so many people that walk while dark still and they are dressed in all black. Then when the snow comes I see people waiting on the shoulder of the road for rides dressed in all white, including a friggin white hood. Impossible to see anyone dressed like this.

A cheap, reflective vest from Dollarama would cover all conditions, keeping people visible.

Reminder to all pedestrians that button at a pedestrian crossing has a purpose!  
 
Reminder to the drivers on Rosser Ave. , there is a marked pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Rosser Ave and 4th st. Pay attention to see if there's anybody who wants to cross the street!?!?!?

Also... isn’t standing 3 steps behind the curb while waiting still a thing?

It is also the pedestrians responsibility to indicate they want to cross the street by holding their arm out , which very few know that.  
Just as above they stand 3 steps back from the curb. The motorists don't really know what their intentions are. I have seen cars stop and then the pedestrian turns around and walks away.  
PEDESTRIANS Hold Your Arm Up and Out

Everyone needs to pay more attention in general. Pay attention to what is going on around you whether you are in a vehicle or a pedestrian. Every time my children and I press the button at Lorne and 1st crosswalk the amount of vehicles that fail to notice and stop is deeply disturbing. Either people are on auto pilot or just so self absorbed that it doesn’t dawn on them to consider others. As a pedestrian it’s very important to take safety into your own hands (and teach your children!) whether it is dressing in bright or reflective clothing or never trusting a vehicle to stop when they should...or the vehicle behind the vehicle who stopped to stop, which they failed to just the other day.
