Considered a millennial (1984)

myhandleistrain said "As a proud Boomer, I'm not so proud in lumping all Millennials in one basket, which I have done in the past. The bottom line to any person, of any age or generation, is do not buy things you cannot pay for! If your monthly debt is more than your monthly income, you are doomed. Banks and lending institutions will gladly advance you money (with interest) to pay for the toys. Please. Until you can pay for housing, food, and living expenses, plus put a bit away in savings, don't buy anything else. It's nice, but not needed. (Cell phones, booze, smokes are not essential to live a good life.) As a Boomer I am very comfortable in retirement, but I fear it won't be the same for the next generation. Thank you. "
I am on disability and it is incredibly hard to live. I had a very good job but I lost it due to my disability and I am having trouble finding another one because of it as it needs to be an office job. I'm a single person And it very expensive living on tour own. My cell phone is the cheapest plan possible, I don't have cable although I have internet to search for jobs at home.
The worst part is that there is no savings. And I found out I need to spend $700 at the dentist and that's money I do not have. And no it's not covered by family services and I can't afford $100 a month for health insurance for descent coverage, remember I have no money left over at the end of the month...
Not all people spend their money on alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, expensive clothes (I haven't bought a new shirt in 2 years) and usless stuff you don't need.
