I recently bought a shredder to make disposal of all those various papers one needs temporarily less annoying (I used to take it to the bank when I access my safe deposit box, but now I'm unsure how to get rid of the shreds. The waste wizard says to green bin them (or compost), but I have neither. Plus it's January.  
 
It's currently sealed in a paper bag. Can it go in the blue bin marked as what it is? Or is it better to just trash it?

Put it in blue bin for recycling. Do it all the time.

But make sure it's in a clear plastic bag and not a paper bag or store single use bag. The recycling depot will not open any bag to see what's in it unless it's a clear bag and they are sure it's recycling material.

Yes good point Irie Mon make sure it's in a clear bag and you should not have any issues with putting it in your recycling (blue) bin.
