I think the topic often comes up at this time of year because of university student courses. I asked one of these posters once, and that is what it was about, a university assignment. It happens every year. A person could probably get the same answers (that are really not out of the box ideas) by just doing a search on here.
I don't know...a survey makes sense too (which has also been done here regularly), but just asking on here & getting general opinions seems like a lazy way out when they should be getting out and doing their own research otherwise. This way is the "easy" way.
***I think that a better option is observing what other cities/towns may have to offer and then figuring out themselves if it could work well here or not. That is putting a lot more productive effort into it (and shows a lot more entrepreneurial drive) than asking others to do the brainstorming work for them. Putting in this extra effort might give a better idea of what to bring to Brandon rather than asking the same people who really have no new ideas to build on. Edit to add: it can be more rewarding too. My opinion only, however.***
No Frills is not a good option to come here for the reasons that I already stated above. Save on Foods is really just like Sobeys...and expensive too. I know various SoF stores in Wpg carry various things depending on the cultural market, but I doubt that it would bring anything unique to Brandon.
As far as groceries, I read a lot of good about Whole Foods, but I don't know if that would be unique enough to add anything here.
To the OP, are you just thinking of products or service industries? There are ways to think "out of the box" with regards to service industries too.
