Disagree. If we stay on daylight savings time, fine, but having it get dark at 8:30 in August would be useless. I have never had a problem changing back and forth. People have turned into a bunch of complaining wimps.

Honestly why not just forward and then leave it??? People get the late sunlight in summer and the sun raises a bit later in winter. Who cares? I honestly find the jumping pointless. What are people doing at 8am in the winter that desperately needs sunlight?

As a person whose body wakes up on its own literally 10 minutes before my alarm is set to go off - this morning was rough. I have a headache and am tired and in a fog. Even attempted putting deodorant on without taking the lid off first.  
 
It going to be a good 2 weeks to get past this. The older I get the harder it seems on me. We all have different sleep patterns and for some of us this hour makes a big difference.

You are correct. If we stayed on standard time all year, on August 25 sunset would be 7:26.  
 
8:26 is sunset on daylight time for that date.

For real. 2 weeks? That seems like a bit of an overstatement. Go to bed early tonight. You’ll be back to a normal routine in no time

We actually went to bed early last night to adjust, but for some reason I woke up at 6(DST) and couldn't fall back asleep. But that just doesn't happen the night of time change, so will make it up tonight.

It’s one hour. My question to all of the naysayers towards time change is this...if you stay up late by an hour once or sleep one extra hour are you messed up this bad because of it? Seems like it would be the same to me. I don’t experience these issues and that’s why I’m trying to understand your point of view. Thanks.

Sunset doesn’t make it instantly dark at 8:30 on August 31. Being so far north, the angle of the sun allows us to enjoy a very long twilight. The same is true at sunrise.  
I vote for permanent DST.

Us night shift workers didn’t mind! Mind you when we spring back, and I have to stay an extra hour I do mind.

I have to ask the complainers if this is really the only time your sleep is disrupted by an hour?!?! I don’t know about the rest of you but 8 hours of sleep is 8 hours of sleep no matter when it is. Yeah I might be a bit tired Monday/this week but it sure won’t be the last day this year I’ll be tired. Why do people complain? It happens every year........

I tend to get up way to early, but start my change over before we get to the changeover date. Guess everyone goes about things in their own way.  
Sleep cycles are usually 90 minutes. So start getting up 90 minutes earlier, does get you away from headaches, but you lose out on one cycle in the morning, but can be gained back that very evening.

Went to bed early last night, reset the clocks , had a read, got up as normal 6.30am, walked 3 miles with the dog, drove out to the farm and am now feeding and bedding cattle and feel terrific. It’s just another normal day. Adjusting an hour twice a year for optimum daylight couldn’t be easier!

If you travel, it is very common to change at least one time zone, maybe two. Do you still have a problem adjusting then?

I’m afraid the death rate, accident rate, and science in general are all against you on this one.

I read the link, it says they went to a recorded vote on the following Thursday. What were the results of that vote? So I am still not sure as to whether we change our clock or not.

make more of an issue of it than it actually is. All because they don't want to change their clocks. By summer they are enjoying the benefits of DST and in the winter enjoy the benefits of CST.

As a person who really hates time change I would be willing to compromise like the Yukon. They changed this weekend, but will not be switching back in the fall. All you folks who want to play baseball at 8 pm still can, those affected by time change will not have to go through it again

Permanent DST offers the advantage of longer evenings all year long.

the Sun won't rise till 9:37 am in December.

Sunrise is not a switch from dark to light.  
We start having morning light long before that.  
 
Like I said, I like a longer evening all year round.  
Is see both sides, but I like the idea of DST.

I don't understand the big deal. Do the people complaining never have a late night? Get up early to drive to Winnipeg? Go on holidays where they change time zones?  
 
It's the same difference. It's just your attitude that's different.  
 
Frankly, I don't care if we're on CST, CDT or whether we keep changing the clocks - we adjust. Most of us are not shift workers, we're not flipping our nights and days around. We're moving an hour. Most people will deviate at least that much in their sleep patterns at least once a week (especially weekends) anyway.

That applies very much in August when the sun is still fairly northerly - we can have as much as 1/2 hour to an hour of twilight. But in December, the sun is at it's most southern point relative to our position, and twilight is much shorter. It gets dark much quicker.  
 
So while we can make the argument for long twilight for August, it's harder to make in December.
