Sold out everywhere. Even places like Canadian tire., Home Depot, etc. Online sold out everywhere I looked at..

This was a week or two ago but I bought some at Bath and Body Works ... but I think that was before it was a thing, and they are tiny containers of it. But hey, just fyi. I've also bought some from the Dollar store before. Could try there.

Wash your hands, folks. You don't necessarily NEED alcohol-based hand sanitizer. From what I understand, the oil-busting nature of soap is more destructive to pathogens to begin with. Presumably with less risk of spawning superbugs.  
 
As for the people buying up toilet paper in anticipation of a virus that (far as I know) doesn't list diarrhea as a symptom . . . I haven't a clue. I'm glad that hasn't seemed to have happened here.

I think people are most likely worried about being out in public and not being able to wash their hands as soon as they can? Definitely people who serve the public need the hand sanitizer, seen them passing a bottle the other day. (cashiers)  
 
I just try so hard to not touch my nose, eyes or mouth until I can get home and wash my hands.  
 
As for the toilet paper? lol, some things cannot be explained!

The Showcase in the mall got a shipment in on Tuesday, customers can by a maximum of 2.

It sure is perplexing to say the least. I have a little bottle that I carry around with me that has started to get low, so I went out to buy a refill but could not find any for the life of me. The shelves are still full of soap though! LOL  
 
Luckily I have a few bottles of the Bath and Body Works stuff. The fragranced sanitizer certainly isn't my favourite but it'll do.  
 
The toilet paper stuff makes me nervous to say the least. I'm concerned that like the sanitizer people are going to decide that they should stock up even though there's really no need.

that this stuff is supposed to be a good backup since it is anti-bacterial/anti-viral/anti-fungal but don't know what research is out there to back that up as a hand sanitizer.

Funny how everyone panic bought hand sanitizer, yet majority of it does not even kill the corona virus. Needs to be at least 60% alcohol. Which most sanitizers purchased in store are not.

The small bottle I have says it is 62% ethyl alcohol.

The stuff in Showcase mentioned above is over 60%. They have 2 kinds. Neither cheap, as they had to get a special shipment in of them.

I've seen a few videos pop up in my YouTube feed on making your own out of a few basic ingredients like alcohol and aloe. It might be worth looking into if the ingredients are easier to find.  
 
We bought soap. Lots and lots of soap, and we're going through it! I've also taught my children how to *properly* wash their hands, and put reminders in the bathroom. We're enforcing handwashing as soon as someone comes home.  
 
I also bought a box of like 500 disposible gloves to use when out once I feel the need (today might be the day) so I can just shed them when getting back into the car, where I can't wash my hands.  
 
We can't stop it at this point, but darn it I'm going to slow it down best I can.

Requires rubbing alcohol and as of tuesday afternoon there was not a bottle of that to be had in this city. Perhaps more will soon be available?

I am more worried about things like prescriptions, and drug shortages globally.  
I think for things like toilet paper, can't you call a friend to pick up for you and leave on your doorstep??

Theoretically, any high-proof alchohol (I think over 140 proof) would make an acceptable substitute.  
 
I can't vouch for how good it would be, but in the absence of nothing it might be better than nothing.

Maybe we should just buy vodka. And if we don't use it all we can just drink it.

Talk about taking advantage of a crappy situation! Shame on you for having the price so high for hand sanitizer simply because it can’t be found anywhere else!

You do not need hand sanitizer. Washing hands frequently through the day is all you need.

if anyone knows if this product was that expensive before all the panicked buying of sanitizer happened? Is it a case of paying that much for the name?
