Yesterday around supper we were stopped at the front of a long train on 34th street. As it passed it slowed right down and an employee jumped out of the first train car while it was moving (it never came to a stop, it slowed down) maybe going at the speed of 10-15km. Anyways, the employee jumped off and got into a waiting cab.  
 
I can’t help but think this shouldn’t be done by employees especially in front of a pile of cars.

Rail employees like conductors get on and off moving trains all the time. Just have to watch rail operations and you will see it often, especially when building a train in the yard to change a switch.

from 1972, but I would imagine the same basics are still taught today when you get your training to be a railway conductor.

Lol. They’re just doing their job. They do this often, they’re trained how to. Used to love watching my dad hop off the train when I was younger.

the untrained and unaware, getting on and off a moving train is very dangerous. And I guess if you've never seen it done before you would think it shouldn't be happening. And it likely doesn't happen very often at a rail crossing like that either.
