Seems Manitobans are about to get a little extra cash:  
 
MPI will be refunding 11% of your last year's insurance. Cheques are scheduled to start arriving in late May/early June. Average refund is estimated between $110.00 and $165.00. This is due to there being a whole lot less claims since Covid19 has meant a lot less traffic.  
 
Announced today, Seniors 65 and over will get a one-time $200.00 cheque from the provincial government to help meet "increased costs" associated with Covid 19. If, by chance you don't received your cheque you can claim it on your 2020 income tax return. The money is not taxable and will not affect any other government payments you are already receiving. These cheques are being sent out now.

the government didn't give more thought to the $200 pay out to seniors.  
As a 70 yr old pensioner, I really don't need this $200. Sure it has cost me a little bit more over the past while but it is not a hardship. But there are many low income seniors not in my position who could use a whole lot more and who have been far more impacted financially by covid 19. There are many disabled persons who also have been impacted and could use this money. I have spoken to other seniors who feel the same way as I do. I for one along with some friends have decided to donate the $200 to an organization that helps seniors. Any suggestions for a worthy organization? Anybody else going to donate their cash?

gave more thought to the fact that some of us retired early, for whatever reason, and therefore not 65 years of age and are living on small pensions and struggling to pay every day bills not to mention the increased costs that this pandemic have caused. Here we are left out once again,  
I do applaud you for donating the cash that you feel you can afford to give away but for some of us we cant donate any amount.

Child tax is also on the way this month for families. They will receive $300 which will definitely help with childcare or tutors.

You could donate to Seniors for Seniors on Park Ave E. They usually provide a weekly meal to seniors to get them out of their homes but with COVID have had to resort to delivering meals to their homes. Of course there are increased costs with this endeavour.

If you don't need this money, please consider donating it to the local food bank.

Doesn't matter what is done does it is alway questioned. The Mb government is trying to keep our debt as low as possible. Yes some will be suffering a little. When the federal government can borrow at a cheaper rate and has the ei program why would our provincial government go into debt. Then with the $2000 a month I hear some are making more off that then if they were working at their part time job. An extra 200 for seniors and people complain it isn't enough, or now hearing like on here they don't need the money and wish to donate it. Funny how you are damned if you do and damned if you don't.

If you already get the maximum, you'll likely get the full amount. But is you get a prorated/reduced amount based on income, you might get less. It's not clear how it will be calculated.

MPI rebates are on the way "by May 31, 2020 or as soon thereafter as is reasonably practicable".....

My 17 old nephew never had a job in his life and doubt he is continuing education is getting paid alot more than a disabled person as they need to find empleyment
