Pretty dry out there for organized activities...

We've signed up our 11 year old for Summer baseball. It's watered down a bit, one to two practices or games per week... But, it gets him out. Our 15 year old has been "patiently waiting" for flag football registration, which opens this week (link at the WYFA site). There might be other non-organized activities that might informally happen, but there won't be any easy channels to find/follow. ...More like a "play by ear" with closed groups of enthusiasts who already know each other. I'm trying to get the 15 year old to rent the beach volleyball courts at the Mulligan's Driving Range and gather his old teammates from his cancelled season of BU Volleyball. Mulligan's has some organized events, but it's extremely limited with age groups and time. I know... It's really hard to do anything this year. Teenagers aren't that motivated to organize on their own and after five months of sitting on their duff staying inside, bad habits have established. Finally, after threatening to put the 15 year old to work, he's getting out there. Often, he'll go cycling with his friends or do some basketball at the very few courts that still have nets or do some informal football drills at one of the schoolyards to start conditioning for what he hopes is a season of high school football. However, with this covid crap... Their sports year is almost an complete write-off. What's a parent to do to keep their teen from turning into a soft, pudgy couch potato with a pi$$y attitude? ...I just had to finally give in to allow them to have way more freedom and trust them that they will social distance and stay in their "bubble group", all the while hoping they stay out of trouble while getting some sun and exercise. This year will suck for organized sports and activities, but I'm this year as a step back in time on how I spent my summers as a teen. Tons of freedom, with tons of friends burning up the daytime. Maybe it won't be as bad as I thought? ...We survived without supervision for the most part they should as well. ...As long we lock them outside, shut off the Wifi and take the game console power cord with you.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
