Tonight at 9:40 some guy knocked my door in the south end and was trying to sell security cameras which they would install anyone else have this happen,kind of odd this late in the evening

The night before they were in the East End. The thing I noticed that I found strange was there were two of them and they drove onto our block in a Tesla.

I am curious what you found strange? Would they be more legitimate if they were in a Toyota Camry?

They are probably trying to find out if you have a security camera set up.

They are knocking on doors @ 1030pm around East End area. Told them to call the cops

I haven't seen them for a while, but a high-pressure salesman was working my area last year. Tried to use fear-mongering and pushy tactics on me, but I just shut the door after the 2ed "not interested" was ignored.  
 
TIP: If you can, talk to them either through a screen door or though a doorbell camera. It helps eliminate the guilt that most people get even with closing the door to a sale they are not interested in.  
 
I hang up on telemarketers too. I consider it preventative of both parties wasting their time.

Never open your door to anyone that you haven't asked to come. ie strangers  
 
and hang up on telemarketers, When you answer and there is no sound hang up it is telemarketers which uses a system that keeps ringing until someone answers than they have to pick up phone or automatic voice comes on.
