Just wondering...  
will the children be trick and treating this year?

Mine won’t be. And I honestly doubt too many will hand out candy either. Will be interesting to see if it actually gets canceled

I think its way too early to tell, but my opinion is NO. One, that would be a contact tracing nightmare. And two, why would you put so many littles and people at risk. Maybe have a little halloween party with your own little bubble. Eat some candy, dress up, play some games.

I think i'm going to use this year to try something different, even if we are allowed to do so. Luckily, it falls on a Saturday so we plan on doing a Halloween scavengers hunt, carve some pumpkins, decorate the house and play games. The kids will be Halloween costumes and probably end the night with a classic Halloween movie of some kind. They always get too much candy anyways.

This is my thinking too. Watch some scary movies, carve pumpkins, whatever feels like Halloween to you.

Special Halloween bags to neighbors kids. No trick or treating or handing out treats.

I’m going to leave a bowl of candy outside my door for kids who do come, but I won’t be answering my door.  
My 9-year old wants to learn about some customs and traditions regarding “scary” stuff, so we are going to be learning about how other cultures view death, including mummies, Day ofthe Dead, etc.

Might be too soon to tell but unless Covid numbers improve our kids won’t be going out and for safety reasons of those digging in a bowl we won’t leave out treats. The kids can still dress up. And we can make a night of Halloween fun...movies, music, special food even buy their favourite candies and treats. Can still carve pumpkins and decorate.

IMO...Everyone should do the same.

It would be safer for families to do their own little Halloween this year.

Trick or treating will probably not happen but Halloween will still be Halloween,lol. My decorations will be going up!

I usually set up every year with a fairly decent display that brings in over a hundred kids from the neighbourhood. But, in all do respect of COVID, we can't justify having anything out this Halloween that might encourage the kids to gather and have contact with one another or risk of transfer from something as simple as the doorbell. I'll buy a box of the kids favorites and watch a bunch of old Simpsons 'Treehouse of Horror' Halloween episodes, while having the front lights out. Maybe we'll make our kids run the treadmill and make them work for the candy. LOL

Question of status of Halloween came up at today's provincial media briefing.  
 
Was said that its too early to comment and that they will have to look at numbers as it gets closer. Wouldn't want to say as of now that there isn't a way it could still happen, though it might look different from prev years...

It's been cancelled before.  
 

Halloween was cancelled in 1918 due to the Spanish Flu. Let':s remember to be safe, #bdnmb, as we head into autumn so we are not repeating history! Brian Kayes said it best in the last @CityBrandon update:
