you should probably educate yourself on accounting as much as you can before applying. Even if you had the certificate, its a challenging field to enter. If you show reasonable promise, they'll be willing to teach you on the job. In summary:
1. Learn the basics of accounting before applying.
2. Apply
3. Ultimately, on-the-job training is where you truly learn
