Quick question about covid. I was looking online about getting EI for days missed waiting for test results for covid. Does anyone know if the government will pay for those missed days waiting for test results.

Why would the government pay for the missed days? I would assume you would need to use sick time if you have otherwise you’re taking a hit. It’s not much different than having the flu and being out for a few days.

You need to get your employer to submit an roe then you need to apply for it. I'm not sure if they will cover a few days but it works for a week.

But there is supposed to be a program beginning at the end of sept to cover 2 weeks sick time should anyone need to be home sick/isolated that doesn’t get paid sick days at work

You have to have prove that you had the test and/or public health told you to stay home.  
 
It also for many employers has to because of a good reason. example. you decided on your holidays to go east when you come back you have to isolate for 14 days. employer wouldn't pay you for those days and I am pretty sure EI won't either as there was no good reason for you to go that way,  
 
not sure that you have to use your own sick time first. this I thought was so you didn't and could save that for other things but could be wrong.

That makes sense. You shouldn’t be applying for the program if you haven’t been told to isolate or were awaiting results or had covid.  
 
If they don’t pay because you go travelling and put yourself at higher risk then so be it.  
 
As a self employed person who has no paid sick time this program will be helpful. Hopefully I don’t need to apply for it

But I do not think this 10 days sick days - has been passed yet in parliament due to the cancellation of parliament so it will likely be revisited and voted on when parliament is recalled next week or whenever .

Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit  
The new Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit would provide $500 per week, for up to 2 weeks, effective September 27, 2020 for 1 year, for workers who are unable to work because they are sick or must self-isolate due to COVID-19. This new benefit would fulfil the Government of Canada’s commitment as part of the Safe Restart Agreement with provinces and territories to provide up to 2 weeks of sick leave to all Canadians in the context of COVID-19.  
 
The benefit would be available to:  
 
residents in Canada who are at least 15 years of age and have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)  
workers employed or self-employed at the time of the application and  
workers who earned at least $5,000 in 2019 or in 2020  
Workers would not be required to have a medical certificate to qualify for the benefit. Workers could not claim the Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit and receive other paid sick leave for the same benefit period. Workers would need to have missed a minimum of 60% of their scheduled work in the week for which they claim the benefit.  
 
Workers would apply after the one-week period in which they are seeking income support and attest that they meet the requirements. The benefit would taxable.

Use your regular sick, holiday or banked overtime from work. Results are usually available within 3 days of the test unless there is an overload of tests being completed. If you test positive then you can apply for the Government 2 week loan.

This would be a good suggestion, however Not everyone has paid sick time...

Not everyone has paid sick time/holidays. I do worry that for some, this will truly affect them financially before it’s all over and done.  
 
However, on the other hand, I hope this teaches people how important it is to have savings. Emergencies can happen at any time and there won’t always be the CERB to help
