Hi. Has anyone received their cheque of $600 supposed to be coming from Fed Govt for the disabled. Please just reply if your received your cheque. Thx

No one will have received, as they are not issued yet. It was announced July 17 but no date on the government website for delivery of the funds.

What is this cheque for? Like why is it being issued?

The Government of Canada announced a one-time $600 payment in recognition of the extraordinary expenses faced by persons with disabilities during covid 19.

Still no date as to when those with disabilities get their payment but they say sometime this fall.  
 
 
 
Payment  
You do not have to apply to receive this payment. The payment consists of a one-time, non-taxable and non-reportable amount of $600.  
 
We expect to issue the payments beginning this fall.

Additional expenses incurred by persons with disabilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic may i:nclude:  
 
paying higher costs for personal protective equipment  
hiring personal support workers and accessing other disability supports  
paying for increased costs for medical supplies and medication  
higher internet costs associated with physical distancing, and  
increased use of taxis and home delivery services to obtain groceries and pres:criptions  
To ensure you get the support you need, we are extending the payment to additional beneficiaries of disability supports programs. Approximately 1.7 million Canadians will receive the one-time payment.  
 
This payment complements other emergency supports, such as the one-time special payment through the Goods and Services Tax Credit and the one-time payment to seniors.

Were you supposed to apply for this or do they automatically send you a cheque if you have claimed it under your taxes?

You do not have to apply to receive this payment.  
 
This payment will be automatically issued to:  
 
individuals who have an existing valid Disability Tax Credit (DTC) certificate  
persons who do not have an existing DTC certificate, but are eligible and apply by September 25, 2020  
beneficiaries as of July 1, 2020 of:  
Canada Pension Plan Disability  
Quebec Pension Plan Disability Pension  
One of the disability supports provided by Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC)  
Disability Pension  
Disability Award  
Pain and Suffering Compensation  
Critical Injury Benefit  
Rehabilitation Services and Vocational Assistance Program  
Income Replacement Benefit  
Canadian Forces Income Support

hey restart I would like to be back working like you but neurosurgeons screwed up on 2 shunt replacements in my head first surgery DEC I got meningitis from a patient in my room last surgery refixed the 1st surgery Jan 2005 surgeons cut my optic nerve blinding my peripheral vision lost my factory job my drivers liscence and my farm so that disability I paid into is nice to get because I bet youre making heck of a lot more then me and I cant even sue surgeons for malpractice and if this shunt fails I have 1 chance left for a replacement to much hardware in my head since 1975 10 surgeries I have vein galen malformation

Just noticed they finally gave a date:  
 
Eligible clients will start receiving payments on October 30, 2020.

This is a strange amount to give to people. Any insight into how they came up with this dollar figure. Why not a $1000 or $500. I am happy something is being provided, just curious on the number.
