In my opinion that’s what I thought after watching 15 minutes of the so called presidential debate last night. Got to be even more embarrassing for the American citizens . Kind of feel sorry for some of them. Classless yelling and screaming tantrums representing what used to be a proud and respectful nation. Yikes!

have someone as rude and impulsive as Trump not too sure how much more Chris Wallace and Biden could of done. I bet many at home watching were yelling at the tv for trump to shut up!! I didn't watch it knowing how it would be, but watched the highlights of it. And sadly many Americans like trump because f the way he is and owning the libs. Many voted for trump because he's a ^%itshow!!

A reflection of what the USA and it’s people have become.... irrelevant!

Trump was the schoolyard bully. No decency especially when attacking Biden's son and dismissing Biden's late son's military service. Shameful behavior. The American people deserved better than this in a debate especially now with so many crises going on in their country and around the world. At times there was so much interrupting by Trump that some viewers couldn't even remember what the topic question even was.  
I wondered if Biden could have stated to Wallace that unless he maintains control of the debate, Biden would leave the stage.  
When Biden reminded viewers of Trump suggesting injecting disinfectants to combat Covid 19, Trump said it was "sarcasm". Sarcasm! Where is the use of "sarcasm" ever appropriate in a pandemic when thousands of people are dying every day?  
What a mess of a debate. Trump thinks he did great.

just to see how big a sh*tshow it was going to be with Trump. He is petulant little spoiled rich kid. It was must see TV. And Trump is proud of his performance. The USA with him leading is a laughing stock around the world.

doesn't know how to debate either. All he can do is bully, intimidate and interrupt. He likes to be portrayed as the alpha male. He can't handle being told 'NO!!'. Just like a 2 year old, it's their way or throw a tantrum. And that's because of how he was raised. He was born in a rich family and got everything he wanted. He thinks he's best and knows more about everything than everybody else. He knows more about the military than his generals

They were both a joke, i think the world should worry no matter who gets in. Biden looks to me to be about two steps from full blown dementia, no way he will make it four years. If he gets in Better make the west wing into a care wing.. there really should be an age limit

The debate was broadcast live, which is what these folks are talking about. How did CNN & MSNBC influence that?

I look at things a little different. While I agree that neither came across as good Statesmen, we pretty much got what we all expected from Trump. Trump is unapologetically Trump whether he offends people or not.  
Biden, on the other hand, he stated he will bring respectability and decorum back to the Presidency. If last night is an indication, that will not happen. Trump dragged him into the mud when Biden promised to rise above it. Trump was authentic (as distasteful as that might be) while Biden showed an inability to do what he swore he would do.

There are so many democratically run countries in the world that people are just fed up, not only with federal politics but politics at all levels.  
Being so fed up was the reason that Trump got in, he was going to upset the Apple cart to expose the bad apples, or so people hoped, but that’s not how things worked out, and now people have lost faith in nearly all the institutions in the United States.  
Most Americans decide to overlook his boorish behavior and ignorance of nearly everything, with the hope that government would once again represent the people, didn’t happen, and now the bar is at such a low level it has destroyed a nation.  
Sometimes it’s not wise to play with fire.

There's people and political parties in Canada who want to follow the same route as the US. They want a Canadian version of trump and his policies. We saw that in the last federal election. Erin O'Toole is using the same game plan as trump, lie and make up stuff that his base like.  
 
There are many trump supporters in Canada and love what he's doing. They all use the same talking points as trump supporters in the US.  
 
I don't want Canada to follow the same path. Is our current PM perfect, no. But he's not the worst we could have.  
 
We are looking at the fire right now, but not playing with it yet. Every now and then we have come close to playing with the fire though.

You can't "drag" someone down to your level, unless they are already capable of going that low.

There are so many deep divisions in society driven by greed, self entitlement and people losing touch with reality that politicians of all stripes play on with their evil games for their own self preservation.

Though I want to reflect on how each of us respond to bullies. Have you ever encountered a bully? How do you handle it? Do you shut down and slink away? Do you get physical and fight the bully? Do you throw words back at the constant barrage of insults or try to appease the bully? It is easy for us to judge others especially those people in high positions. But in the end we are all human. I thought Biden handled it as best he could in the face of Trumps chaotic power grab. Not even the moderator Wallace could control Trump. At times Biden attempted to redirect the conversation to the people by speaking directly to the camera all the while Trump yelling insults in the background. The debate itself was a sham because that’s what Trump wanted. He can’t perform in a properly held debate because he has nothing to give the people in the way of a vision or policies. He is incapable of being presidential and he knows it. So he will never allow himself to be put to the test.  
 
As for all of you who compare Trudeau to Trump. Stop. Trudeau has his own failings I agree but he is nothing like Trump.  
 
All we can do is stand up to the powers in our own countries and demand accountability. At the same time hope that the US is able to get out of this hole they have dug for themselves or else they risk dragging all of us down with them.

paying enough attention Trevor but what is O'Toole lying about and what is he fabricating? Please elaborate for me. I do need to be informed before i decide which party/leader to support.

What I don't understand is why they just didn't mute the mic of whoever's turn is was to NOT speak?  
 
If they did it to both, then it's fair. Let them both speak uninterrupted.  
 
Mike Wallace and the organizers did a terrible job not anticipating this would happen and have a pro-active solution.

A country with that big of a population I question is that the best they could have chosen to run ?  
 
What ever happened to Kanye West saying he was going to run? Another loose cannon.  
 
If Trump wins, the world will be on pins and needles another 4 years about what he might do . Maybe he will get his wall built this time.  
 
I know that it takes a lot of money to run a campaign and it is a huge responsibility but surely they can find someone better and younger.  
 
The fact that there is discussion about this debate is sad as there is less coverage on the news about a Canadian party leadership example the Conservatives leadership that was just held than American politics. There is also a Green party leadership (small party I know) going on. Who is running for that one?

I saw something the other day that said the combined age of Trump and Biden was 151 years. The combined age of Trudeau and O'Toole AND Singh is 127 (or thereabouts, I might be misremembering the numbers slightly).  
 
I think that's symptomatic of a lot of the issues they are having down there. No offense intended to the Boomers, but it's time to let the next generation take leadership. They are stuck in the "glory days" of yesteryear - the world has moved on and they are getting left behind.

It should be noted that the Democrat leadership race had several younger candidates which the voters in the party democratically eliminated.

For everyone shitting on trump for being "A bully" Let's not forget that, that "Bully" Pre-COVID, had the lowest poverty rate in history, the highest median income per house, the lowest black-asian-hispanic-female-veteran unemployment rate in history, highest stock market growth in history, passed Right-to-try, record high next exports, regulation and tax reform, lower crime rates, supported Israel, highest HBCU funding in history.  
You can hate on his character but take a look at his policies and action while you're at it.

Trump rode on the success of the Obama administration! And he has taken the US back to the 1950s economically  
 
Trump is totally incompetent greedy narcissistic a** who cares for nothing but himself. In fact he is in debt over 400 million $$ and there is suspicion that he may be laundering Party donations to pay off his own debt. He is a total fraud. His family is i:ncluded in that.

In the debate he went on and on about how the Obama Administration left over 300 vacant judge positions on the Judicial branch. Positions that are to be appointed by the President. Trump used this as a talking point to show how inept the Obama Administration was. And how he,Trump, has appointed over 200.  
 
Fact is the Obama administration attempted to fill those position but Mitch McConnell struck all of those appointments down. There is more than one fox in that hen house.

How have they gone back to the 1950s economically? Any stats?  
How does he only care about himself?
