Trick or treating

I'm wondering how many kids might be going out trick or treating, and for those that are how would parents prefer candy be handed out? Through tunes candy picked up with tongs and put in the kids bag??? Does it matter??

not many because people choose to be responsible given the current numbers. I don't understand why anyone is willing to put both their children as well as anyone who hands out candy at risk. Sad.

We having a full day of family fun! We are all dressing up, playing various games, gonna be a blast and staying safe!

Ebrandon seems to have a different opinion than the rest of social media. Majority here thinks Halloween needs to be cancelled, from anything i’ve read on other Social Media platforms it’s a go for the most part. From reading here i assumed no one was participating in Halloween. After doing some looking it seems majority are still on for Halloween.

I’m personally not as we don’t get kids anyways, so no point in extra protocols and what not for maybe one or two kids.

We're taking ours trick or treating and getting another to hand out till we get back just like every year. Yard is decorated as well.

(of a person, attitude, or action) not showing a proper sense of responsibility. Its sad.

We usually have 120 kids, which is way more than a school cohort. Kids also don't go to school in our area, so its kids would not see (other than in our neighborhood) coming to our house.

Lights will be off, we will have a family night of Halloween movies.

I did not say anything disrespectful again those people who want to celebrate Halloween. In fact I respect everyone's right to make their own choice. Your comment that I posted above is a hit on those people who choose to shut the lights out. It was judgmental and uncalled for.

With everything going on in the world, so much division and hate, some where we all have to stop with the sarcasm. Halloween is a tradition many want to celebrate, and lots of people have found some amazing alternative activities to help kids have fun this Halloween instead of going door to door asking for candy.

We can all respect each other's choices.

No door to door trick or treating here but still trending toward what might just be best Halloween ever. Respect others’ right to make their choice when it is technically allowed within rules in place, but as a family it doesn’t feel right for us to be going door to door. On a straw poll of neighbours over the past couple days there will be few if any lights on tonight.

We’ve spent the day spoiling kiddo, enjoying his awesome costume, having Halloween themed fun and swapping treats with a few family, friends and neighbours. Next up, pizza and Scooby Doo!

I said I respect people's choices. In no way did I say I had a problem with kids going door to door.

Kids went around the block and found about 50/50 were handing treats out. So far we have only had 12. Average halloween is 120-150ish so we shall see. Pretty windy out too so might deter a few too.

Sounds like you have a very exciting Saturday night planned Adam!! Enjoy the pizza and movie. Stay safe everyone!

I just had 2 kids here in Larkhill. Their bags are pretty full already. I'll hand out treats if any kids come but I'm not actively saying "come here, come here."

With these winds I doubt kids will be out long.

One child in the Valleyview area and the street is very quiet and most houses are "dark"

It was over before it even got started in our area. Most homes are dark. Eerily quiet in the Parkdale area and vicinity.

To be honest, I think concerns over Halloween are a little overblown. A few seconds of contact with a stranger is going to be harmful, especially give than one person is outdoors (so lots of air exchange). Assuming of course that no one who is symptomatic is handing out candy.

We opted to set up a slide on our railing to senf candy down and avoid people coming directly to our door to minimize contact further.

The biggest potential issues with Halloween imo are large groups of kids going together (prolonged contact) and Halloween parties (obviously a terrible idea).

Went out, had a blast!

We took our littles, along with 2 families of friends who are already in our "bubble". We did a small area around our home and every group we met respected social distancing, and waited on the boulevard for our group to be finished. It was great to see so many kids out, respectfully distancing, and having a tiny sense of normalcy for one evening. Everyone wore masks under their costumes, and the candy received is being tucked away until mom & dad can go through and sanitize. Most homes used tongs or a chute system to distance between the trick or treaters.
Thank you to everyone who participated. Our kids are now hanging out watching a halloween movie, binging on candy from our home...and most importantly, they had a night to not think about the mess our world is in.

Took the kids out and even with many houses being dark, they had fun. Thanks to everyone that continued with Halloween. Masks were worn, social distancing took place, and many places used scoops to give out the candy (much of which was in ziplock bags). Felt way more safe than shopping at Walmart today. Lol

Shout out to the home in the 900 block of Frederick. Best decorations. The kids loved them. Worth the drive to see.

57 here in SW Minnedosa. I had a mask on, tongs for grabbing candies (though I do admit to using my hands a few times). People were good about social distancing. I even had my Bluetooth speaker perched in a tree blasting Star FM. Note: full blast on a speaker drains the battery QUICK!!

Had about 45 kids come aropund, down just a wee bit from previous years. Enjoyed the little one, but shut it down at 7:30pm as the kids were getting bigger.

I had not plan to hand out candy this year. Despite of previous years not many kids walking on our street anyway. I hung up some candies from the tree in front yard. Only one group if 6 kids came to the door and I said, candies are on the tree. So candies were gone ! I hung up few more later but ,I am sure there still will be on the tree in the morning. L.o.l. as no more kids was in our street. Usually I get 120 or more kids Halloween.

Lights were on at our house and we had 10 besides family. So worth it to see their smiles. We masked and used a reacher to give out treats straight out of the container the treats came in. We showed the parents and noted it can be done safely. Again, to each his/her own but again, we really enjoyed the kids and the parent costumes!
