Is there any lakes or rivers around that are good to go skating on? I’m sure there are lots looking for something to do since it’s still so nice out.

Nope nope. It's not been cold enough yet. Do NOT go out on the ice.  
 
IDK about around here, but Winnipeg had 3? 4? water rescues in less than an hour a day or two ago from people falling through the ice.

I drilled at the edge of a dugout the other day so that my cows can drink and the ice is thin for the time of year. I don’t think that it’s safe for skating or the like and looking at the forecast it won’t be cold enough for a good while yet.

Yesterday in the Assiniboine, they were playing hockey, had lawn chairs out there too. Maybe not everyone got the message

I've seen videos of people playing hockey at sandy lake.

Currently out enjoying skating on our dugout. Many have been out ice fishing as well on lakes like Oak Lake BUT need to check ice thickness first. Likely will vary depending on source (lake, river, dugout, etc) and location. Need to bend the ear of some ice fishermen!

Minnedosa. Sandy lake. Erickson. Ditch lake. All have skating trails on there lake we did a tour and checked out some skating trails. Minnedosa or sandy lakes are the best. Lots of shacks on the ice. 10 inches a guy at sandy said. Lots of ice for skating.

Yes with the warmer weather the ice isn’t as thick as it’s been in the past years. But saying that as a ice fisherman I been on a lot of lakes around brandon including the Assiniboine river Ice thickness is anywhere from 8”-12”. So just skating is fine but make sure you stay away from any place with faster moving current

8-10 inches on my dugout. Been skating a few times. As always check the ice it's different everywhere.

And where we skate the water is only knee deep if we do fall in. Lol!

Known as Rivers. Hundreds out skating, ice fishing, etc yesterday. Some quads. No vehicles or fish huts yet.

Not sure about a you were on Rivers but we were driving full size pickup on Saturday. Lots of vehicles and ice shacks at the Rivers wildlife dock area. Was 11ish inches.

With still being in code red are people not supposed to be staying home still?? I get we’re all getting stir crazy and want to get out but really!!! Gathering at the ice shack or skating with hundreds of other people is just asking for this code red last even longer.  
You fall thru the ice and need medical assistance or have an accident on the way you’re putting so much more unnecessary stress and burden on our healthcare system!! C’mon people do better.

Really? What a joke. You must never been on ice before. Fisherman are driving in separate vehicles parking walking out and fishing more than 6 feet apart as for skating family’s are doing it As a form of exercise. You just stay in your bubble.

Getting outside and enjoying the warm weather has never been banned. Stay home to me means stay away from stores, businesses, people etc. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying the outdoors as long as physical distances are being kept.

Here’s a link to a video in minnedosa. Skating trails from the main beach to the end of the campground it looks like. Plenty of room to social distance and keep everyone safe. And there is multiple lakes these trails are at. If minnedoss is to busy for you. Drive up to sandy

No wonder I've been getting so many join requests lately!! Thanks for the plug!! I traveled all the way through that a few days ago. It was an experience especially after having bad experiences with ice in the past. At least I only fell once. People are usually good about the distancing, but people still need to be reminded and hopefully not by ticket.

I was at Daly Beach by Chimo Resort. Great that you saw and drove vehicle on lake. Just saying saw none down our way or across at Provincial Park in the hour i was out there. Some spots fishermen said ice only 7-8 inches where they drilled holes. Safety first i guess.

With re-opening of outdoor recreation facilities today, City shared that they're in process of prepping the skating oval (but not ready yet). Warming shack will not be made available.  
 
Skating areas on retention ponds have been opened with the disclaimer that "The above season temperatures have made ice surfaces increasingly unstable and fragile. Please use with discretion and at your own risk."  
 
All use would be within public health orders, which includes mandatory 2 metre distance unless from the same household. Group sizes maximum five unless from the same household.
