Gham said "If you really look at those numbers it’s not horrible.
400 contacts from 60 cases is only 6-7 contacts per person.
I bet most people have that anyways. I sure do, between family and coworkers etc. "
Not that bad? Really? And then those 6-7 people each has contact with 6-7 more, etc.
As a family we have been following the rules completely, and still realize the impact we could have on the community if we were to catch it somehow. My husband could easily spread it to around 10 people at work, our kids each roughly 20 in their classes. From there someone might bring it home to a person who works in healthcare and they spread it to a healthcare facility, etc. etc.
It’s not about the mortality rate of the disease itself, it’s the manner in which it spreads, which then overwhelms our healthcare system. There are other far more deadly diseases out there, but they don’t spread like COVID does.
If people would have just followed the more reasonable rules last summer/fall, we wouldn’t be in this situation with rules that are far more exhausting to follow and are impacting far more people so negatively.
