So now that we have been in lock down for just over 2 months I am starting to need some Non essentials....  
 
My poor cat has only 1 feather left in his feather wand and he needs a new one... Now it my no seem essential to the government but that is how he gets rid of his zoomies int he morning and night.  
 
Kettle died... yep... worked it death...  
Need more hand towels (my bright pink ones!) tried to shop online with walmart... that was a joke.  
 
Clothes and pyjamas... I was looking for stuff that they sell int he store and I could not find a thing..... That would fit me anyway.  
 
Yes, I did tried peningtons but they had not casual wear....  
 
It seems to me that some of these non essential items are now essential at this time.  
 
Question is when will they come back.

Have you called local businesses to see if these non-essential items that you need are available for purchase using curbside delivery? I see that you can buy lottery scratch tickets in this manner. All of my Christmas presents this year (many non-essential) for others were purchased locally using curbside delivery. Another avenue to consider is by shopping online (Amazon.ca) or something similar if the locals can't help you. Just some ideas.

Kettle and feather wand.. can buy that from canadian tire via curbside pickup only  
 
clothing is all online.. but yes most people wont know if it fits until they receive it

Non essentials will be available in store if and when government and health officials decide that hospital admissions and infection rates have dropped to a low enough level to try the easing of some restrictions. Even then as we see in other countries it is likely that restrictions be quickly imposed again if case loads increase. I wouldn’t hold your breath because we are now seeing infections caused by Christmas gatherings and those from New Year gatherings are still to come. Sadly until such time you can only buy non essentials online or curbside pick up just like everyone else and we should be grateful that stores and businesses offer us these alternatives.

Well if you don't know winter boots are essential. I bought a pair in store last week. You can go shopping for some whenever you desire. You can even try them on, do a little twirl and even jump up and down if you wish. You can also do the same for your winter coat. Same goes for underwear but I don't think you can try them on and walk around the store you'll have to wait and do that at home. Also no need to rush around and squash your grapes, slow down, take your time it isn't a race and you don't have a time limit.

I feel stupid asking this question how does curbside pick up work ?  
For example need a new coffee pot .  
If you need a credit card don't have one .  
.  
if you need a cellphone don't have one .

Home Hardware would be another option for a kettle for curbside pick up.  
And pet supplies are essential items. You could go in store for a new toy, or you could do online order and curb side pick up from one of the local stores (and I'm pretty sure the smaller shop(s) would be very happy to help over the phone if they don't have an online ordering option.

just in a petstore friday and always buy a few new balls in the winter (cause we lose a bunch in the snow) and other than food the dog toys are all non-essential and were taped off. But I also know I could have asked for them, bought it and had them take them out to my truck.

New underwear last weak, and like you say, they frown on you trying that on in the store and walking around to get the feel of them , so in good faith that I had picked the right size, I took them home to try them on, and wouldn’t you know it! They were too small ... and squished my grapes too!! And I don’t think you can return underwear, right? Ugh! Life is rough for all of us during this time...even comedians...but I appreciate them more now than ever! Good stuff BIG Mack!

I called and purchased crock pot and coffee pot at Home Hardware , told them I needed to pay by cash no problem.  
Order it - go in store pay for it - the stores are open for essential service so tils are open- and they bring it to you at vehicle - easy and simple.  
I have found most stores are accommodating to customers who do not have credit cards.

I don't know why hair dye, nail polish and cosmetics are considered essential.  
Although air fresheners are listed as essential the main store I shop at has then covered up again! I will be checking with their "parent" company to see if the fresheners are blocked off and then deal with that!  
 
Good to hear some places are accepting cash payments for people who don't have a credit card! And that you don't necessarily need a cell phone in order to pick up your ordered goods!

Thank you for correcting me. I did my order for curb side pick up before Christmas. I thought all pet supplies were considered essential, but was apparently mistaken.

way to funny I need a new pair of undies to wife said so as for shirts Im still wearing sears catalogue shirts I guess theyre getting old to because having trouble ordering online curbside and sears catalogue not in use anymore

I too am getting frustrated. I just want to pick stuff up on my one shopping trip I am out! I needed fabric glue and was very surprised to see the whole sewing section in Walmart taped off. How is sewing non essential.  
 
I need a new pair of runners. I have literally worn holes in the ball of the foot. I need to try them on before purchasing. My foot is wide and sizes vary based on shoes. Then I hear some places don’t take refunds right now. Well I cannot afford to charge stuff on my credit card only to have to wait until who knows to return it.  
 
All they did was force us to shop Amazon. At least I know I can do a return with no problem. Only thing is now the mail is taking double the length of time it used to.

Yes, thrift shops are open (of course with limited numbers allowed inside at a time, same as any other retail, depending on the size of the store).
