pro bono

Pro bono cases are usually charity cases. Most lawyers will not work for free unless it's for "a cause".
Most lawyers will, however, give you a free 15 minute consultation. If you run it past them, they can tell you whether or not it's a "sure thing". Depending on the type of case, you will maybe have to put down a retainer (some lawyers will have payment plans) and you can request the judge awards you costs so the other party is required to pay you legal fees.
Good luck with whatever your legal thing is.
