My son and his friend are looking for their first jobs . Both energetic , hard working , good resumes good references, both speak French also . Have put out numerous applications but haven’t heard back. Hoping someone would give them a chance .

Mine has been applying for jobs since early last summer. A few places he's applied have posted several help wanted ads over the past few months, he applies every time and not even a call. It's tough going right now for the kids.

My daughter has the same problem, she’s been applying for jobs since June..

McDonald's is hiring again. Very flexible hours as well

try McDonalds, ice cream places, fast food places, subway, etc  
 
Where have they tried so far? Keep trying? Submit another application after 3 months in case they are hiring etc?

Our son just got his first job at Sobeys stocking shelves. May want to try there all he did was drop off a resume.

Here is a contact that may help them . They have a program that helps give youth work experience with programs that pay employers for the first 10 weeks of work. I have hired some youth using this program . Gives them a start and can lead into full or part time work. good luck in the search.

Do not expect an acknowledgment from employers when applying for jobs unless you are picked for an interview- that courtesy no longer seems to exist with the majority of employers.

Depending on what type of jobs they are looking for - keep checking eBrandon jobs, ca.linkedin.com /jobs has quite a few in Brandon area. In local businesses.

I spent a significant period of time without a job during Covid. It was tough going finding a job before Covid hit let alone after the pandemic started.  
 
All the places that a teenager would put in jobs will never contact you unless you've been selected for an interview. The worst part these days is that nearly all of these jobs are apply online only, so they often won't even accept a resume in person.  
 
I think any of the grocery stores would be a reasonable place to try applying. Sobeys, Co-Op, Safeway, Superstore, should all be open to hiring.

for any students, all the schools have career developments teachers or advisors. Your teen should be meeting with them, to go over their resume and get help with applications. I know they are not in school full time right now - but these teachers should be available. There are alot of businesses that are not hiring like they used to and may not want to take on a "new to the job market" person. But dont give up - there are more positions open every day.

I may be looking to give a person a opportunity near the end of the school year for high schooler or post secondary school year if they qualify under the ceys program . My understanding that even part time students may qualify considering all that has happened to this croup to find jobs with COVD. The job would be helping to clean vehicle and general outside work related to rental properties.

We’d be happy to look at their resume and meet them to see if there’s a fit at work (retail)....

I have over 15 years of work experience and I can't even find a job.

Try volunteering to get work experience. Places like soup kitchen , SuperThrift etc are always looking for volunteers

Check out ca.indeed.com. I think I saw the other day that Dairy Queen was hiring, Home Depot, etc. When they are dropping off their resumes, are they including a cover letter? Sometimes when you lack job experience, the cover letter is a great way to show why you'd be an asset to whatever company you are applying to based on personal and/or volunteer experience.
