SERIOUSLY, are you kidding?  
 
What part of NO TREE BRANCHES do people not understand? Can people not read the the huge sign? The bins are filled with branches. You want to cut your trees down, take it to the dump. You want to own a house, have a way to maintain your renovation garbage, yard waste and get it to the dump. Made me ill. Honestly if the city takes it away I would not blame them. Nice to own a truck and have a trailer as well to haul my garbage to the dump. I think it is getting worse since fees have been imposed.  
 
The recycling bins were no better. Cut your boxes up. You do not need to.toss a huge intact box in the bin.  
 
Common sense people. Oh yah that is missing in people today. It is laziness and entitlement.

The pics do not do the site any justice. There are even parts of the tree trunk in the bins.

I saw it this morning too. Wondering how anyone would even have room in their vehicle to bring the un broken boxes there in the first place. Grade A laziness. Those boxes would likely have all fit into 2 of the 4 dumpsters had they been broken down.

needs for the site to be a locked compound with recorded video 24/7. Open sunrise to sunset on all days including public holidays.  
Also it needs staff to advise folks what is acceptable and where to put items. Vehicles entering will be logged so that anyone dumping incorrect items can be notified and charged with a fine.  
Yes it will need a change in byelaws and yes it will cost.  
However, looking on the brighter side, this will mean extra employment for a few folks, this in turn leads to those wages being spent within the community. Workers must live within Brandon.  
The cost of this would be born by the ratepayers of Brandon with each person paying a portion on their rates.  
As the recyling site clean-up costs would reduce there would be a financial gain, together with less problems at the actual recycling centre.  
On a somewhat cheeky note, surely yard waste is anything that comes out of your yard! But I do appreciate that it should be leaf litter, clippings, mowings and small twigs, rather than large items.

As it was stated above it needs to be a fenced compound with 24/7 video monitoring. Ive seen worse than trees, couches garbage bags, tv, beds and mattresses

Thank you for bringing it to our attention, and hopefully, once again, to the attention of the COB. Too bad for the individuals who are dispatched to clean up this disaster.

Hate to say it but the city council should have known what the outcome to raising the dump fees would be. They certainly didn't give that one much thought!  
You should see what the gravel pits, fields and ditches along side roads look like.  
Many contractors and city businesses dumping their garbage out there too  
It is going to cost the city a lot more to go clean all that up now than what they will bring in with raising dump fees.  
Put the blame where it needs to be, phone your city council

The city dump is not to make a profit on, but so that it is a place where garbage should be, not in the bins nor the ditches.  
There is one area east of town where one would think it was a used mattress and furniture store !  
Actually a smart idea for city would be what many other cities have done and that is to provide a place at the dump where potentially reusable things could be unloaded and anyone needing such could take it home and provide a donation at the dump office.

but even if the dump fees were zero, fly tipping would still be happening because people just do not care.  
Witness all the cans and food wrappers chucked out of vehicle windows whichever road you take. Often at the finished eating distance from the take-out.  
The whole garbage/recycling system has to be radically overhauled and the costs spread over the population of the area.  
The current recycling system probably costs more in environmental terms than is ever saved by what little is recycled.  
As an example I have to do a 35 mile round trip to the dump, this then is collected in small dumpsters (as in photos above) which are then hauled an hour and a half further North to the sorting plant. This is supposed to be saving the planet!  
Just a thought, maybe the fast food containers should have a matrix code printed on at the till, linked to the card used to purchase, the rubbish could then be traced back and fines issued.

Seems as if the city isn’t even emptying these things, in your pics you can see they are jammed full. I was just at the ones at the keystone and it’s disgusting on the city’s behalf, it all looked like recycling but so full stuff is blowing everywhere and people are just throwing stuff by the dumpsters. They really need to empty these if they keep trying to promote recycling.

And will continue to. Just glad they have those bins. I try to get to them when they are emptied.  
There are times, I have a few twigs in the yard waste, and city worker loading them said "it's fine". Compostible stuff.  
 
Like Covid, can't be regulated all the time.

Similar issues at the Richmond and 1st Street site.  
Huge sign "No tree branches" and numerous bins were packed full of tree branches.  
People are just giving the City of Brandon justification to remove them.

Think the people drove to this spot to get rid of the waste but they don't drive to the dump ? People also use contractor bins around town or any large bin. Some contractors are charged by the weight of what is in the bin. Also when people put items in a bin that cant be in the bin it contaminates the whole bin. People are just lazy that's all and no body reads signs they just play dumb and say I didn't see it. This seems to work for a lot of people. The city likely won't clean up the mess, it was the same when the bins were up in the theater parking lot. Where ever the bins are it will always be a mess and if you put a fence up and hire someone to look after the site, kind of sounds like the landfill already and people don't want to go their or use it. So people will just find another spot to throw their garbage.

by the replies on it being the cities fault. We all live in this city and have garbage to dispose of. At some point in time costs creep up and we may have to pay. Infrastructure is what usually ends up taking a back burner. This goes on until it is to late. Streets are the best example of that.  
 
Here is my example. I have no kids in school yet we still have to pay education taxes. Why should I have to? We have had no renovations to our home in years yet our taxes go up. No insurance claim in 30+ years yet my premiums go up. Why? Likely because of those who make fraudulent claims and I have to suffer the consequences of this.  
 
Again these are my thoughts.  
 
Fencing, security cameras etc. Well then the city may as well get rid of these recycling and compost sites as they have that already at the dump. Money would be saved on the bins, fuel, and maintenance of the trucks.  
 
What I see it boiling down to, is lack of common sense and respect of what is an easy and let's say free service to people of the city of Brandon. We can include laziness as well.  
 
Again just my take on it.

I do believe right beside this place and it is a complete dump and I’ve emailed the city numerous times about it and nothing ever gets done except for they will clean it up. I think this place needs to go and the clothing donation is always being broken into and clothes EVERYWHERE. It’s disgusting  
 
I think the city needs to completely close this site.

This situation is largely caused by modern urban attitudes and lifestyles and an expectation that waste will be taken away somewhere else regardless of it’s source. This has created an urban population who have no concern or understanding of the environment or the community around them.  
Sadly as urban sprawl grows our towns and cities, these problems and attitudes will only get worse.
