Not just a hot day today, but from the embed below looks like the hottest October day ever recorded at the Brandon airport station in the 80 years that records have been kept... 
 

Clarification: The 31.7C at Brandon is the all time October high for Brandon airport (data back to 1941). Another Brandon site (Brandon CDA) with data back to 1890 hit 32.5C on Oct 1 1992

Just looking at the temperature database I have of daily data going back to 1941 and over those ~80 years I'm only seeing three days that have even hit 30 in Month #10!  

For point of reference, in 1992 when the other station he mentioned hit 32.5 the airport came in at 30.9 (airport will naturally be slightly less warm at the higher elevation).  That station doesn't exist any more. Will be interesting to see if we get an official number for "lower" Brandon tomorrow too to see if we can go one step further and call it the hottest October day ever recorded.

And the award for *second* hottest day in October over the past at least 80 years tentatively goes to..... today. Highest hourly reading being 31.1 degrees. Possible that it peaked a little higher than that in between to give yesterday more of a run for its money, will have to see what Env Canada recorded.

Wednesday ended up going into the books at 31.5, provincial hot spot…  

A high of 28.3C in Winnipeg today (Oct 6). Provincial hot spot was Brandon at 31.5C. National hot spot was Estevan SK at 32.3C #MBwx
