Farmergeorge said "Official covid death toll has now reached 5 million and yet parents are still irresponsible enough to bring their children out trick or treating, driving them from house to house and knocking expectantly at houses that are obviously not decorated for Halloween or expecting anyone. So much for social responsibility and taking care of your neighbours or being good role models to your kids. Everyone seems to have forgotten that we are in the middle of a global pandemic in which people are Dying. "
We are slowly learning to live with this. It's not going away. Outdoor trick or treating, in the right context, is a reasonably safe activity that the province issued guidelines for.
Most groups were clearly households. There was very little mixing. Everyone did a good job keeping seperate (the kids are so used to this by now they have zero issues with it).
Many (half or more) were what my kids called "help yourself" houses. Zero contact. Most others were like ours, with prepacked treats that could be delivered without getting close. Lots of masks.
The biggest risk probably was the week up to Halloween, the stores selling stuff were insanely busy. I have more concerns about that then the actual trick or treating itself.
