WAs just wondering if anyone one would know why  
 
 
Winnipeg serves like 1200 meals daily, inside where people can sit and eat while in Brandon people are forced to stand on the sidewalk out in the rain, wind,cold and whatever else mother nature throws at them to get a sandwich or sometimes a warm meal. In Winnipeg they put on a fabulous meal at Thanksgiving and Xmas for the not so privileged which is so greatly appreciated as gives lots a warm meal and a bit of self worth but in Brandon...Nothing.

From what I understand the soup kitchen is following covid regulations. Before Covid they did serve Turkey dinners with all the trimmings for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  
 
Thankful that the soup kitchen has been able to remain open to still offering a meal. Could be worse. They could have closed completely then there would nothing.

Helping Hands has been operating for many years just the way you explained the one in Winnipeg. It all changed with Covid rules. It runs with a staff of two, and volunteers, many of whom have health and age compromising situations. To reopen they would need to be open twice as long each day to feed the same number of people and keep the distancing, and that will require extra volunteers. I’m sure the Board of Directors are anxiously weighing their options carefully. Godspeed!
