I am 100% against the blockades and the protests, but also 100% in favor of returning to a state of normalcy.  
 
Life is more nuanced than most people seem to appreciate. I totally understand that many people will be apprehensive about the easing of restrictions, but the government isn't just responding to right-wing extremists. A significant proportion of the population thinks it is time to move on, and not all of those people support the protests.  
 
I am about as far from right wing as you could be, fully vaccinated, agreed with the logic of the restrictions and health measures. But at some point we need to turn the corner. Now seems like as good a time as any.

Now is as good a time as any, if we eliminate restrictions now we should be just in time to return to lockdown come spring-summer.

many of the protesters want things to immediately go back to how things were in 2019 and ignore COVID like it doesn't exist. Well for many, they think it was cooked up by Trudeau and China to take everyone's rights away. "It's a fake virus" They want to be like Florida, Texas and other Republican held states.  
 
Do I want these restrictions to end, darn right!! But I also recognize that you just can't drop everything and ignore it like it doesn't exist anymore.

Every state I have been to in the last 4 months is living life no masks no restrictions. It's time.

Removing the covid restrictions has been the best news yet.  
 
Its time that they also open the USA border and stop doing pcr test for travelling to our southern neighbour.  
 
People need to start heading back to work and get this economy moving back in the right direction to improve all this inflation amd damage that our government has done.

I’m sorry but there are many more factors contributing to inflation than covid and related restrictions. One way or another inflation is here to stay for the foreseeable future and only steep interest rate increases will help to bring it under control again.

I’m all for freedom and no restrictions If you want to sit in your house with your mask on all day Feel free nobody will have anything against it. It’s time to get back to normal. 2 weeks to flatten the curve

That’s a ridiculous, ill educated and dangerous statement. Protecting Public health and the health care system always has to be priority .  
With your freedom comes responsibility and commitment towards the well being of others

I feel that yes it’s time to get back to normal. At the start we had no idea what we were dealing with. We locked things down to get a vaccination and then stayed locked down to get people vaccinated. Now that we have that all done. Well let’s get moving on. If people want to keep wearing their masks so be it. But don’t harass them for wearing one but don’t Harass people for not wearing one. However at the same time all we heard about was trying to keep hospitalization down. I for one have not heard any level of government say we need to increase our hospitals we need to increase our doctors and nurses. Instead our pm sent and spent money foolishly that could of done amazing things in this country.

Public health and public safety are for the public good for all and can supercede the Rights and Freedoms. So these mandates are legal. Just like mandatory evacuations are in disasters like fire, flood, etc..

For sure l agree.. BUT... covid is the number 1 reaason and they need to put up interest rates ASAP.

Is being realistic synonymous with being negative? (Rhetorical question, the answer is no.) It's foolish to assume that exactly 2 years since the start of the pandemic, this virus will simply think "Oh, it's been two years, I guess I've had my fun".  
 
I've yet to see a real reason to completely end Covid precautions, most I've been given is that "it's time". Sorry to say that disease cannot be reasoned with.

Virus will be here a long time probably forever as many viruses are still here. Vaccinations keep them under control.  
 
If people would stay with the program of regularized immunizations then these viruses stay under control. Yes there may be breakthrough cases but that is expected with anti-vac anything.  
 
One thing we have learned is that are throwing out all cases against vaccine mandates. Public health has taken a new role.  
 
A “new poll” said over 60% Canadians believe in protestors desires. Bull. Polls can say whatever you want depending what and how you ask. Along with who you ask and where. Never believe in polls.  
 
I know people want restrictions to end to get to a new normal as we will never go back to pre pandemic normal. Too much has happened.  
 
And restrictions which are provincial are being removed and has nothing to do with protestors. It was happening anyway.  
 
More firm action needs to be taken to end the Ottawa protest as if that falls the rest will follow. Like getting rid of the snakes head.  
 
It has to be done right now with armed forces involved. Monday to Wednesday is where you are dealing with core group. It has to be planned and moved quickly no hesitation. Document everything.  
 
Arrest everyone confiscate everything taken children in to care. Take animals to shelter.  
 
Sort it after area clear.  
 
And block all entrances so more vehicles cannot move in again.  
 
If any non citizens there kick them out right away and put them on the non entry list.  
 
Action now. Sort it out later. And explain at the end.

Those wanting the restrictions to remain believe in continuing to protect our health care system until Omicron has run through. The post wasn't negative, but simply a reflection of how this has played out for the last two years.

As a person currently in quarantine with Covid, I don’t agree with loosening the restrictions and lowering the mandates because I’m scared of getting it again, and I’ve been off work coming up on two weeks now. I’m going to continue to wear a mask if the mask mandate is dropped March 15 for my sake and yours. By that time, we may go back up to orange or red anyway and the hospitals will be full again. Who knows.  
 
I don’t blame anyone for wanting their old lives back, it’d be great to go back to a semblance of normalcy but I just don’t think we’re ready. Yep, I’m scared. I don’t like being alone this long or have to rely on others for food and medicine delivery. I look down at my car and wish I could drive it but I’m still so sick. I haven’t been this sick this long since I had H1N1.

Naturally, everyone is wanting things to go back to normal. My question is what was the reason to put the restrictions is place? Was it to stop Covid-19 from spreading, to stop the strain on the healthcare system due to increased hospital admissions and was it to stop the deaths from the virus? I believe the answer is "yes" to all three. Based on that, the time to end restrictions is when the spread has significantly declined, the number of people requiring hospital care has declined and the death rate has drastically declined. When asked for some science to back up her announcement, the Premier provided nothing. Apparently, we may have some specific information this Wednesday.

Raising interest rates, while inevitable, will come with it's own sets of problems. I know so many people who have assumed new, massive amounts of debt for different reasons (many of those reasons tied to more disposable income during this time due to work from home, not eating out and/or not travelling). It's going to be brutal when rates move up, even incrementally.  
 
As for PP becoming PM, I shutter at the thought. I have no great love for JT, but he's still the best option among the options currently available. If he enacts the Emergency Measures Act like the rumours are saying he will, it will be political suicide but one that's probably necessary at this point. I'll give him credit for doing something that he knows will be deeply unpopular and seals him losing the next election.

Well, hopefully all of the people crying out about the regulations, and complaining about the government show up at the ballot box and let their voices be heard for change.  
 
Remember, Manitoba's mandates have always been defined and enforced at the provincial gov't level, not federal. So you want change? Vote for it.

is cowtowing to her perceived Right wing base in not supporting the implementation of the the Emergencies Act. Letting the blockade continue at the Emerson border crossing is outrageous.... She has capitulated to the protesters and continues to. As much as we may not have a strong opposition, she will definitely go down in history for her short term as Premier!!!

The CPC are afraid of their voter base being split between them and the PPC. What it looks like to me is that by removing O'Toole as their party leader they're aiming to try and win back some of that voter base that is inching further and further to the right. I want neither to be in charge of this country.

My voting will not be based on handling of pandemic. We have dealt with this and decisions are hard to make and not everyone will agree.

As to Emergency Act. For me about time. I laugh though at many premiers in public saying not necessary we could handle it. Yeah right.  
 
Sure in the consultation with federal government before decision made they were all do it do it. Now just trying to cover their butt.

We've had two Premiers literally run and hide...one just up and quit on the Province, abandoned his post, in the midst of the greatest health crisis that Manitoba has ever seen.  
 
Just be honest with yourself at least. You're willing to forgive and forget the worst leadership this Province has ever had because you have your own preferences.  
 
It was never hindsight, we all saw how they made every wrong decision while they made it. We've seen them flee the country, flee their offices, flee press conferences.  
 
It's embarrassing.

this Government has been an embarrassment. Decisions have and will continue tp be politically based no matter the the consequence tp the majority. It continues to boggle the mind how our Chief Medical of Health could remain in his position if his recommendations to gov't are not being followed. or is he just another political pawn???
