Anybody got insight into what will deter deer from Des to my trees. They are doing a mean number on the spruce trees now, even standing on hind legs to reach higher.  
I realize that they are hungry but but go eat in the bush where they belong

What bush would you like these deer to go into when brandon and other areas keep taking down any nature that is left for their for extravagant homes

Winter is harsh, and deer need to eat too

we (humans) are infringing on the deer's habitat, not the other way around...put out a couple of hay bales, and they might eat that instead of your measly tree....so much snow this year, they can't reach anything to eat...

Hay is a pretty scarce commodity this year and deer can sometimes be fussy. See if you can track down someone with oats and get a few pails and spread a small amount on the ground and see if they clean them up.  
We have deer coming from over 2 miles away to nibble at the oat bin.

If I see someone feeding deer in the city I call the conservation officers. I hope they gave that person down by the river who was putting out bales a fine.

Feeding any wild animal is not only unwise but extremely foolish.  
 
There is a cycle in wild animal population.  
 
Some think of the poor cute deer are starving. We must feed them.  
 
What you are doing as humans have always done is interring with nature.  
 
The deer population is out of control. So nature does what nature is supposed to do control the population so other “not so cute” animals and vegetation can survive.  
 
We have a harder winter. Less food available so yes some deer will starve. Perhaps less fawns in the spring or less robust due to mothers diet will not survive birth.  
 
This is nature’s way. It is not cruel. It is just the way.

Not only will you not keep them away but you will attract more (Speaking from experience) We live in a farm with standing corn, silage, and thousands of hay bales. We have hundreds here and they are out of control.

I had a few deer nibbling on my decorative crabapple trees few years back. What stopped them was hanging Irish spring soap off a few branches. You can cut the bars in half, drill a hole through and then hang them. I also wouldn’t advocate feeding them as that will make you even more popular!

Never thought of the Irish Spring soap ! Use that for mouse protection in my stored car
