Can anyone identify this insect?!

Freaky! Seems like a cross between an ant & dragonfly, with a "scorpion" tail! Tail extends and straightens when it flies. About 1 1/2 inches long. Anyone know what it is?

ichnumid wasp?

Not entirely sure but it looks like a female ichnumid wasp. The tail is the way eggs are transported into rotting stumps or wood. Have some on my farm and they seem to love rotting maple as a place to lay eggs. Totally harmless and beautiful.
