because neighborhood complained and it is now permanently changed. Other neighborhood's in west end and south west end have change from 50km/h to 40km/h as well.

Brandon now has 3 areas with 40 kmh speed zones as a test to get people to slow down.

One is near Fotheringham off 1A
1 near Parkdale

Used to live on Princess E, there are no stop signs between 1st and Park E so was pretty common to see folks doing 70-80+ on that stretch. I'm glad they are reducing speeds in some residential areas, hopefully more to come.

Inconsistency..... that's the way we do it in Brandon.

No different than how the thru lanes are handled around Brandon. One intersection you use the right hand lane to go straight thru. The very next intersection you have to use the left lane to go straight thru. Confusing????? That's the way we do it in Brandon. Is there a reason? Who would you even ask?

I believe speed limits are regulated by the Province. Has that changed?

Thanks for the link I never realized those communities were all 40zones I had been using Durham dr lots since it was a 40 zone last year. But never realized all the side streets were as well. As I enter and exit at the same point. Is it new that the full community is a 40 zone? Also on princess east it’s definitely a raceway I don’t think the 40 zone will help with that other then generating revenue as most the people noticeably speeding where doing over 60

Winnipeg is like that too. It just depends on the traffic flow. It's all signed and/or marked, not very hard. The biggest issue is that people don't obey the signs. Out of towers I can forgive.

Municipalities including cities are able to create by-laws that supercede the HTA. That i:ncludes setting speeds, making rules like no U-turns at intersections with traffic control devices (which Brandon has) or setting time/day etc for school zones.

what gets me about Brandon traffic…

How as soon as your stoplight turns green, the next one a block away turns red… there is literally no flow to traffic… constantly starting and stopping… it’s super annoying to drive here…

If you are going to make it 40 in the residential area on Princess why not make it 40 KM/H all the way downtown Princess too? That would make more sense! That’s where it’s busy. If the city is going to make the changes, make it make sense.

princess east is used like a fatoochin speedway thats why. No stop sign for 13 blocks and one fairly decently busy intersection at Douglas that at some point with the hill is going to be a death zone if they dont slow people down. The amount of cars that do not full stop at the stop signs on the side streets is ridiculous, then there are the ones that come flying up past the stop sign almost entering the intersection and then possibly stop - vehicles there or not. People need to get a clue and start driving properly.

Not that a posted speed limit seems to make a difference in this city but I've walked by that sign more than once at night and not seen it. Hopefully it's more visible by those who need to see it.

I seen it during the day lol.

People still travel at 60km/h or more. On Princess East. Need to actually enforce this. Those that actually travel at 40km/h...thank you. I'm the guy passing you on my bike...wink
