iu have been told at coffee shops that we are getting a new sportsplex straight south of the correctional jail ,wait what ?

They are talking about a new soccer field. They are trying to close down the hockey rink at the sportsplex so we all have to add our dollars to the private ice rink built buy the fellow who nw was the wheatkings.

South of the jail is all various outdoor sports fields. The Sportplex ice system is down. The city is currently developing a future vision for the Sportplex. There’s a survey circulating.

the area south of the jail is getting a lot of grading sewer and water lines,for what ? no signs of any soccer fields there

Good to hear we're embracing some new sports since there is a need. I haven't a clue what cricket is all about, but I know at least one person that is passionate about the sport. Considering how lower ongoing cost of these venues over time, i'de say it well worth the investment.  
 
As for the rink at the Sportsplex, I still like the suggestion of community funding (as opposed to expecting someone else to "BRING BACK THE RINK" petitions without a thought to costs). It may not get the repairs/replacement all the way across the finish line but it could certainly make the remainder far more justifiable for the city.  
 
Hockey isn't exactly a cheap sport to participate in. If people want the access, it's should be well worth the donation.
