Pro's and con's. Which one is cheaper.

we just came off a 2 year deal with BellMTS for internet, 100MB/s speed, it was $60 a month then went up to $125 when the deal ended. We asked them to match Westman's prices and they said no, so we switched to Westman. Got 200 MB/s internet on a 2 year deal for $75 a month, speeds are as advertised and the WIFI coverage is much better than Bell's. We had 6 wifi "booster pods" from Bell and they did next to nothing. So far happy with the Westman although they do connect the router/modem via Coax cable not the phoneline like BellMTS, so installation can be a little different depending on the infrastructure in your house.  
 
An annoying thing with BellMTS is when you cancel, you have to find a box and mail the equipment back to Winnipeg from a post office, you cant just take the equipment back to a BellMTS store in the city. Westman you just drop off the stuff at their office on Park, pretty easy.  
 
Suggestion, go with whomever gives you a better deal. Cant speak for the TV options, just the internet.

This was my experience, except reversed. When my 2 year deal was up with Westman, my bill went up over $100 per month, from $70 to $170. I called them to see if there was a better deal but they said they couldn’t do anything. I called Bell MTS and they offered me a much better deal. I called Westman to see if they would match it and they wouldn’t budge. So, I went with Bell.

Please make sure to REQUEST to fill out your form for your equity checks IF you switch over from Westman Cable to Bell  
Mts! They will not tell you this. You have to ask at the office. There is a substantial waiting period, (in case you switch back). You also qualify if you become deceased, or move away from the trading area.

We had Westman TV and it was terrible. Kept buffering during programs and all Westman did was suggest rebooting the equipment. Did that for about a year when Bell showed up with an awesome offer. Switched over and we haven't had an issue with TV since.

Started with bell mts and I haven't had luck wirh them..... switched to westman and 7 years on still going great. Customer service are really great from my experiences with them. Am talking internet only though.

Had Bell for years. Then was down for over a day a couple times with not much from support other than to try and reboot modem. Switched to westman and price was better. Like the bell TV tech better. More responsive and saves recordings locally. Westman uses online storage like Google? Westman uses newer technology like wifi. But overall Bell seemed more reliable. Westman seems to have these little outages every month. Maybe few minutes...maybe an hour.

Westman never offered me a deal period when I first went to them,and was paying 60 for the first three months then went to 110! for the lowest speed and was always down when I needed to use it at night. then Bell  
offered me 75 a month second level speed rate and I have been with them since  
November this year and not one issue whatsoever, so I am very pleased with my provider and highly recommend them 100%

I prefer Bell mts for TV, the remotes and guide just feel better. However bell mts can't touch westman for speeds. We were supposed to have 100mb/sec with bell, we never once saw speeds over 70mb/sec, and with that in far sides of our home with boosters at 5 bucks a month each we couldn't get above 5mb/sec(.5mb/sec before boosters)switched to westman and similar package for TV am internet we are now on a 300mb/sec plan and speeds throughout house have never dipped below 290mb/sec yet.

I recently switch to bell Mts and had never problem with my Equity checks. It will not effect if you're switching to other service providers as Westman has their own department and it's nothing to do with our Equity checks.

We just switched to BellMTS. West-Man Cable was “Lite Cable” (Major Networks) + TSN and 3 boxes and 60mb/s Internet. Was $191/month and going up another $6 starting January 1.  
 
That was enough. A change was made.

Yeah man i was paying $219/month and i got the deal for $105/month for internet, better tv, and home phone.

from westman to bell for internet. Westman was ok, but price getting out of hand. They are willing to cut price for new customers, but long term, no fuss, always pay ontime customers pay full bore.  
 
Going to start following the new customer deals as it seems all of the companies do the same, reel them in with a deal and then close to double the price after a year

I have switched back and forth as promotions as each of the two providers don't usually give you a decent rate after the original one expires. I just called MTS who i have for internet now, and asked about pricing when my term is up on January 18th. To my surprise, he said he would keep my present rate for another two years. The service has been decent and all we need(internet only). So am happy to stay on with them. It is a pain to get a different provider in every two years, having to learn the different systems. So i'm happy with MTS for now.

Thats good to know, I think a lot of it comes down to whom you get on the phone when you call. We would have stayed with BellMTS had they matched the offer, but when my wife asked it was just a flat no. Then the next week when we called to cancel after Westman had already been installed, all of a sudden Bell was willing to match, which was too little too late. I agree, switching back and forth can be really annoying.

Had Westman for a few years, but they could never keep the internet going for more than 72 hours and it would crash. Switched to Bell/MTS several years ago now and never looked back. I see a lot of comments about how they jack the price once the promo you signed up for is over, but if you just call and threaten to leave, they'll hook you up with another promo, I've done that every two years for at least a decade now.

I have had Bell/MTS for over 15 years. As a matter of fact we had Westman come to our house and had them remove all their equipment and wiring off our house. If you are a long time customer of them just ask if you are eligible for any credits for internet they will usually find one for you. Right now we have the fastest speed we can get for our area which is 75/Mbps and get a $15 credit every month. It is reliable and does stay up longer with no crashes. That's my 2 cents hope that helps folks out.
