Not buying any Blue Spruce or any kind of tree from a Retail Store ever again.  
I bought a Blue Spruce later in the Fall last year from them. I was told it was guaranteed for 6 months.  
I brought it home, planted it right away. Took good care of it with water, fertilizer, etc. After all the snow melted, I noticed it had some brown needles. I went to the Store to tell them I was worried about my Blue Spruce Tree.  
They told me there was No warranty on my tree & that it was a bad year for trees. WOW! I'll never spend that much money on a tree again, especially if it doesn't have a honest warranty. I'll never buy a tree from them again.

Is the problem that there is NO warranty, or the warranty has expired? The fall was more than 6 months ago. Did you keep your paperwork? When I planted a tree a couple years ago, I got receipts and instructions with the warrantee written right on it. I had to keep my paperwork to claim the warranty.

Live & Learn. I'll never spend that much money on any tree without a written warranty.

They warranty their trees, but I was told by Rita at Bee EZ Tree Service that the best time to plant trees is before July. They need time to settle in to their new digs. Planting in fall, your tree probably didn't have a chance to get over the "shock" of being planted in a new home when winter set in.

You are far better to dig a ditch tree. They are very hardy to this climate and free!

I would look into this further but I was once told not to fertilize trees when planting. Wait until they are over the shock and getting established. Seriously I don't think you can blame the tree. Get some good advice for the next one.
